Hi,

Currently I only have $1000 to invest, so I was think that I would put 50% of this in Bitcoin and the rest in Alt-coins. But then I thought that it would be a waste. Whereas Bitcoin maybe could 2x-3x in the distant future, if I do enough research and find good alt-coins they could 5x-10x. I really want to own bitcoin but I feel like it would be a stupid investment decision to jump on to bitcoin at this moment with this amount of capital. I plan to start invest $1000 every month starting 1 month from now, and when I have enough money to buy 1-3 BTC I will buy some.

The ROI looks to be greater in alt-coins right now, so should I just focus on those for now? I'm looking into Waves, ICN, STRAT, GNT. I will miss out on free BCC if I go this route, would it be worth it to buy BTC for $500? Just so you know I'm a long term investor. I want to hold for at minimum 6-12 months at a time. What do you recommend me to do?

Before I would invest in altcoins, I would first buy bitcoins for the 1000$, place them into my wallet with my private key before August 1st. There are only a few days so I would collect first a few free BCC and then invest in altcoins or even ICO coins.

It is better if you will go all in onto bitcoin now rather than altcoin to get some free BCC, then after that just continue your plan of investing long term on altcoins. If you really want to gain more profit of a 1000$, you should maximize your stash first by getting some freebies after the fork, then go invest onto alts afterwards but still I don't think it is wise to go all in on them.

Thank you!

Yes, the rationell and logical way would be to go all in on BTC, but my main concern is that the prices of all of these Altcoins will skyrocket after Aug 1, lol. Well, if they do then BTC will skyrocket as well, so i guess I can only win in that situation.

Would you recommend me to wait or buy BTC today, will the price drop in the coming next days? Also my ledger S is arriving tomorrow, would I still get the BCC if I put my BTC in my ledger? And what is a private key that everyone is talking about?

The obvious thing to do if you just come into bitcoin is to invest into bitcoin, it's only upon deeper learning you come to realise there is a whole altcoin world in play.

True that if you invest in bitcoin the movement is not going to be amazing, if you invest in the altcoin world depending on the altcoin you are in there is the chance that the increase and decrease could be tremendous and therefor earning you more bitcoin.

It is all a gamble, the choice is yours but which ever way you go please make sure you do a decent amount of research on the coin you will be investing in.

I have asked this question to myself when I started to get into crypto and came to the conclusion that holding solid altcoin projects seem to give better returns Smiley

Yes I always make sure that what I'm putting my money into is actually real. When I research alt-coins I look at the team; who are they? What are their backgrounds. I look at their white paper, I try to image what solution this their project can bring to the world and so on. I would never put my money into a pump&dump for a quit buck.

I think it is quite risky to buy only Alt Coins. Looks at historical snapshots from Coinmarketcap and see how many old Alt Coins have died. Keep at least some Bitcoins no matter what you decide to do.

Than you all for your advice! I'm going to be buying 100% BTC before 1 Aug and let the dust settle. In the meantime I will do even more research into the Altcoins of my liking and wait for the right time to buy. I will then resume my plan of holding 50% in BTC and put the rest into alt coins.

Bitcoin is safe compared with the most of altcoins. I think you have to diversify your portfolio as much as you can. But it should be better to leave 30%-50% in BTC. Also, be very careful in choosing the coins to invest! And good luck!  Smiley

yes but only on the strong altcoin, don't invest blindly on everything that is really a bad strategy, but you can aim at certain altcoin that are not on the top, but have the potential to be there oen day, it's a difficult to know, but it can be done by looking at the roadmap and the dev activity

It is not wise to only invest in altcoins because they are more volatile than bitcoin and you can easily lose money there if you will not invest in real or legit cryptocurrency. If you want to be safe and wise then you will invest in the strongest cryptocurrency and that is bitcoin and the rest will be diversified into altcoins to minimize the risk of having a loss.

I do not think it is wise to only invest into alt coins. Though some altcoins can make 5x-10x profit, I think you will face the 5x-10x risk. Alt coin is a high risk and high payback investment, so it is wise to put some of your money in it and prepare for the loss of these money.

No matter whether you made decision to go fully for altcoin investment, the first step will be buying bitcoin as there is hardly any direct exchange which let you buy coins for USD. So once you own bitcoins, better wait for 1st August as only 3-4 days left, what's wrong to get some free bcc. Well after that, it is good to invest completely in altcoins. I believe altcoins can give much more return than btc.

We are know with a type can make money with high profit always accompanying the risk not small. So, don't putting our funds to any type investment online is best choice, after take profit should withdraw to FIAT every month can help we interesting more in this job.
