I have been experimenting with a few different pools and most are prop with a few that are PPS. What are the advantages/disadvantages to both of them. Is one better for slower mhash/s? Is one better for CPU-only mining?

Could you explain why? Im trying to get a grasp on how each of there work. PPS is designed to make the owner of deepbit money. How he makes money is by giving you less money. He feeds you some nice ideas about how PPS is more "stable" and "safe" than prop, but if that were true, he'd be LOSING money. prop payout is 48.5 BTC * (your shares for that round / total shares for that round) PPS payout is 0.00005129803015564. Which is going to be like 45 BTC * (your shares for that round / total shares for that round). as I said previously, it's basically a scam. |

You always get paid for every share, but with PPS it's static, where as prop is semi-random. The key thing to remember here is: the semi-random proportional is going to be HIGHER than PPS when you average it across several blocks. It *has* to be, or Tycho is losing money, and he's not an idiot.
Just stick to prop.

Prop is vulnerable to pool hoping.
I am looking for good PPS pool for various alt coins. Bitcoin is fine too. But I want variety of alt coins because many alt coins have fluctuating difficulty.
