Hi.

I am looking to by some miners and have found a used Antminer S7 at a reasonable price.

I have searched but can't find the life expectancy of the products. As its second hand it could have been used for the last 2 years so is it likely to break anytime soon?

Is there any other reason why they may not work or am I ok to buy a second hand S7?

Thank you for any help.

There is no life expectancy for bitcoin miners. They might explode after a month or last 5 years. Chances are by this time most S7s have been ridden hard and put away wet. Plus unless you have VERY cheap power you wont make any money on them. at 10 cent power an S7 only makes ~$15 per month and that will decline steadily.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

Get an Antminer S9 and a 1600KW Power Supply and you will be good to go. The S9's are noisy as heck so I hope you have a location that isn't near where you sleep.

Main issue with an s7 is that it will probably need a good blowing out of dust and may need new fans if they have not been replaced recently. Other than that they can run for years and years. As to will they make more money than it costs to power them -- depends on where you are and how much your power costs.

Maybe use the S7 on BCC while difficulty is low.

I would avoid buying and mining with antminer s7 despite the fact that now we have BCC with low difficulty. Even new antminers damage easily sometimes so used antminers despite the low price are risk. I wouldn't buy s9 also if I have to start. I prefer waiting for next antminer series (call me crazy but I prefer that).
But OP it's better for you to pay more and buy s9.
