Same question here. I can't find anywhere info about blockchain.info position on Segwit. Are they going to give me Bitcoin Cash for the shares of BTC I store there?

Electronic wallets store coins as well as you on your computer. Your coins are not going anywhere. If the separation happens then you get back your coins as decide for yourself purse. But I am sure that no separation will be.

Well, there will be. Bitcoin Cash has already made their statement of their fork. On August 1. at 12:30 UTC Bitcoin Cash will fork from Bitcoin blockchain, unless the whole Bitcoin blockchain would fall apart...

I also use a blockchain wallet but with the incoming fork and the rumored split in the bitcoin network, I have transferred all my bitcoins into my bitcoin core wallet, Which i believe is the most sensible thing to do, I have also heard about people saying we should backup our keys. still figuring out how to do that.

Please read the announcement on the top of the forum.

still figuring out how to do that.

Backup your wallet.dat somewhere safe or do dumpprivkey on your keys. If you're a new user to Bitcoin Core I suggest you do the first. See more here

Your balance would still be there during and after the fork. However, just to be safe it's better to import your private keys into another wallet which you have full control with. Blockchain.info is notorious to have too many bugs. Might wanna save yourself from days of depression when the fork happens.

I decided a couple weeks back I couldn't trust blockchain.info at the fork because I simply couldn't find any info about their plans for it. Moved my coins to a local Electrum wallet.

I'm wondering about the same thing. I haven't found any info about it. Luckily I have access to the private keys on my blockchain.info addresses. So I think I'm good.

I think blockchain wallet may be safe but in a case of split happen then I'm not sure whether we have an option to get Bitcoin cash new coins in blockchain wallets because there is no clear information available on it. So I have transferred all my bitcoins to electrum wallet from blockchain wallet. It is very easy to use and we can backup all our private keys as well.

IVe heard others saying just to be safe just transfer bitcoin in a safe wallet. All of my bitcoin I transferred also in electrum wallet. As my friends recommend this wallet to me, just save the private keys and lets wait what may happen this coming aug1.

Looks like everyone has move their bitcoin into electrum, yes this is the most famous wallet we ever heard in this forum regarding hard fork due to its feature to export private keys.
Blockchain, info should be safe during hard fork and you suppose to get bitcoin cash as well https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/57202/in-case-of-the-bitcoin-split-when-holding-btc-on-blockchain-info-will-i-rece But, since you do not hold the private keys, better to move out from blockchain wallet.

Using Blockchain wallet actually it's very safe, but many phising website will pop out when you try to reach it,
i experienced something like that before, and my PC got viruses.this viruse is a bit special when it's only affecting my keyboard and my clipboard.
during splitting what you need is your private keys, because after split you need private keys to access your Bitcoin clone.
If you hesitate and not sure about it,just use cold storage/offline storage.
you can find a lot of cold storage, one of the best as far as i know :
Electrum,Trezor.

Just remember, the most important thing is 'private key'.because it's a key to access your clone coin and don't forget to back up your wallet if something goes wrong  Wink

I use blockchain.info wallet exclusively on my iPhone, not my computer. How safe is it then?

Block chain wallet I think is the safest web wallet I know. As far as I know, there are no news or articles or reports that the block chain wallet is being hacked or robbed. So we can say that wallet from blockchain is secure and dependable.

You are right, It's too safe wallet as i know. but many people here are prefer to send all their bitcoin to an Electrum wallet, which they said that it's more secure. But personally, I didn't think that will be problems in 1 aug in blockchain wallet. I hope that this date pass without any problems concerned bitcoin wallets.

I have heard that Bockchain wallet is going to be the only place for safe storage of bitcoins during the fork. But I heard it from my friend who is also in the community, so, as you can suppose I have no proves.
