He's one of the world's greatest boxers by most standards – and he just took to social media to promote an upcoming initial coin offering (ICO). Floyd Mayweather, Jr., who earned a number of boxing records in his years on the professional circuit, is set to fight boxer Conor McGregor in a highly-billed match on August 26. In a photo shared on Instagram just over an hour ago, Mayweather predicted that he would "make a $hit t$n of money" as a result of that fight – a comment made while seated in front of what appears to be a significant pile of money on a private jet. Yet, in the same message, he also predicts that he will also strike it big during the ICO for Stox, a prediction market project that is launching its sale on August 2. Here's the full Instagram post: It's an notable statement given that, just days prior, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that ICOs are subject to its rules and that, in some cases, tokens could be deemed securities. The question that remains is – is it real? And if so, how involved is Mayweather in the project? While surprising, it's not unheard of for a major boxer to be involved in cryptocurrency, with Mike Tyson even once backing a bitcoin ATM. A representative for Mayweather wasn't immediately available for comment when reached. https://www.coindesk.com/boxing-champ-floyd-mayweather-just-promoted-ico-instagram/ICO's are heating up. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Floyd Mayweather Jr is definitely a whale. I know nothing about stox.com. I hope its a successful venture but with the SEC's latest rulings on ICO's falling under their jurisdiction with perhaps an intent to enforce legislation/regulation in that area, perhaps its safe to say there is cause for concern?

The comments next to his post make me laugh. I don`t care about Mayweather,he is just a rich idiot with boxing skills. The important thing is that ICOs might be more regulated by the SEC,which means they will be more secure for the investors that there will be less scammy ICOs. I don`t know anything about this Stox ICO. Perhaps Mayweather is one of the project`s developers. Just kidding...

He has trouble reading, so it's likely someone else in his entourage or financial adviser that is pushing this, and even posted on his instagram account. I am surprised to see it though.

Floyd Mayweather should support digital currency. He earned so much money in terms of FIAT CURRENCY. If he invested for bitcoin he can keep it without any trace of government agency.

If this photo doesn't signal that the ICO bubble is about the burst, I don't know what does... :-)

Hahaha, nice one. This just shows how Mayweather want to earn money. He is not just sitting on a ring to get money but also in the front of his computer. So we can conclude that all of his games is for money

This is why I really love Floyd "Money Boy" Mayweather. He is very cool but always got hot headed. He is very short tempered but he really likes ICO's and I can't believe he is supporting stox. Somebody told me that the stox campaign was really great and their ICO is somewhat called done.

Agreed, celebrity endorsement is nothing new, spending a few million to get Mayweather to mention you once or twice on his twitter, to make several hundred million from ICO investors, is pretty smart.

It is all about money. He's just lured in to crypto because of the potential profit that he may get from it. I don't know anything about the coin that he's promoting and most probably, I will not have any interest in it. He just wanted to have huge amount of profit from it.

He didn't made money from investing in ICO's, he did it by advertising them. Do you really think he will provide some time just to read more about crypto currencies and sh$t? A big "NO". With the amount of money that he have all he will do is enjoy it and not a single moment to think of making money from computers and internet. That is one hell of a big bully and he will just call us geeks.

They saw these Stox guys willing to give him millions for an instagram post (because I doubt the would do it for less than a million). So all he has to do is sit back, take a picture and do fuck nothing else. Just watch millions of people comment on it and some may become interested in Stox. That is the number #1 good thing about being famous, you get paid to advertise doing minimum effort. Of course, fame has a lot of negatives, but that is one clear positive.

You would be floored at the amount of money it takes to get a sponsored tweet, or an instagram post. I know the Kardashians are like a .5mil to 1 mil, Beyonce is a definite million. Like, a million dollars to make a fucking tweet? To hell with bitcoin, this is where the real money is at. George Lopez is like 10k for 3 tweets over a time period. My car, adjusted for age/use, for a freaking tweet. It must be nice.

Btw he also promoted the second ICO on twitter. I want to know what the project is on the run this guy. He just won against McGregor and now he wants to do business in the world of cryptocurrency. I do not know how to think this person, I think he's smart in doing business.
