Thanks everyone for the replies. Let's hope that one of those bike-sharing companies (other than BitBike of course) will find their way to this thread and start integrating Bitcoin payment to their application.

I feel that some people still don't really get what I mean by bike-sharing. Basically the current business model is that a company come up with funding and manufacture their own Bike-cycle and then lend it out to people. Anyone who have verified their identity (with bank information) will be able to lend Bike-cycle from the company. After they have ended their trip, they do not need to return the Bike-cycle to any shop - they will just park (with lock) it somewhere. Another person can easily pick up the bike from there and start riding.

TLDR; start the ride anyway, pay online, stop anywhere.
Instead of hoping they find this thread why you do not communicate with them and sent them the link?, I think that could be a good idea, maybe they do not know that such an alternative as bitcoin exists and that is why it is not implemented, but if you let them know there is a small market for that maybe they will adopt it.

I think Bitcoin Bike-sharing is a good idea to be implemented in Singapore, so it's kind of like in Netherlands but the difference is the form of payment, the bitcoin. This is gonna be awesome especially for the traveler who visit Singapore, but the thing that I'm wondering is, is it expensive? I mean everything in Singapore is very expensive especially private transportation, you know what in some countries their government providing a free ride for their citizens or even foreign tourists.

I do support bike sharing, in fact, I use a service similar to bike sharing for my office n home. I think Bitcoin will be ideal for these kind of services. People need to understand the potential of cryptocurrencies and start using them.

I wonder how long would it takes these companies to see the value of Bitcoin and accept it as a form of payment. Meanwhile, will there be any new companies coming out that focuses their business on Bitcoin only*?

No ones on how long it will take before they will see the value of bitcoin. But there's always a suggestion box for each company and you can suggest it to them by making your own paper comment. And yes, it's possible that there are new companies that will focus only with bitcoin.

To open a business that only accepts BTC is too risky. and It's risky in any business, you have to take some security measures like, take proof of their identity. After they show the truth. You should check the person's details so there is no false evidence to be provided So like so many risks to be cleared before going for this business. About this bike-sharing business: Are not you afraid your motorcycle is stolen? Is there a guarantee?

It's good indeed to keep and pay attention to all that is necessary so as not to experience something that is not desirable one day, because not all also can to be honest.
Agree to check in detail, also with an identity that can prove and can make us believe.

The latest business trend is to provide Bike-sharing services. It's now a very popular business model in my country, Singapore - there is more than three operators already, and counting. However, I've yet to find any company which accept Bitcoin (or any other cryptocurrency - if their CEO hates Bitcoin).

I wonder how long would it takes these companies to see the value of Bitcoin and accept it as a form of payment. Meanwhile, will there be any new companies coming out that focuses their business on Bitcoin only*?

The only way that I think I am able to rent a bike with Bitcoin would be to buy a Bitcoin debit card and then use it. It would really be good to see bike-sharing operators start accepting Bitcoin. Anyone agree (or disagree)?

* I recently read about BitBike and their peer-to-peer bike sharing model is quite impressive - sadly they do not have option for me to vote for my city.

Good idea, but there is no reason to not accept other types of currencies as well, in fact, I would strongly suggest it. A lot of people are holding tight onto their coins.

That's an new approach and the concept too seems to be unique. This requires time for more spreading and based on the fact I believe services initiated at present will surely be benefitting in the future. Even this days services with bitcoin acceptance were increasing higher and higher.

I love bikes and would support something like this, but knowing the bitcoin community as I do, I have no doubt that a project like the one proposed would end up with a lot of stolen bikes.  And I find that sad.

Frankly I'd be happy if I could find a bike dealer near me who took bitcoin.  They don't seem to exist anywhere around me.

To open a business accepting only BTC is too risky... You need to be open to all payment methods otherwise you will lose money. I think no one is going to do this, at least for now, and if so, it's going to happen for a ideal and not for profit exclusively.

About this bike-sharing business: Don't you fear to have your bike stolen? Is there any guarantee?

I agree it is not payment method only that is risky (if bitcoin is mandatory). Also the bike that be stolen all along. I don't have any idea if there is a service provided at this time in my country. And I think only those country with strict regulation to drivers and driving do's & don't must be permitted to do this kind of services. It would be a neeeded technological equipment to trace and track like cctv's and gps.

A question for everyone whp supports BTC as payments for this bike sharing business. If the company accepts BTC, do you think there would be enough people who would use it as their preferred form of payment? Do they have enough BTC users in Singapore to make it realistic for a company to accept BTC only?

Well it is depending on the company and their motive, if they are giving bikes and you want it so search for this company and write your information and the skills and send it to them in your city’s location. So if they will have the best support for the bitcoin and to promote it then they will implement your post it could take some time or delaying the date but it will be fruitful for you as I am thinking.

There are many services and payment mode to accept with bitcoin but this service now not necessary to invest. Since bitcoin is fluctuating in big number none of the retailers or business kings will never take bitcoin as payment option. Even customer also will not ready to pay by bitcoin for higher end service or even cheap service like this.

Well in other country bitcoin are still not accepted locally but you can promote it with your own and only accept bitcoin as payment.. since here in my country we can instantly deposit money into bitcoin without any fee except for exchange rates.
And i think it can help a lot for bitcoin to use it as payment method and i think fluctuate of the price of bitcoin is not a problem you can relay in the present price to ask for your customers .

Lol, you’re right. I don’t even think a company would do such; accepting Bitcoin as the only form of payment, unless they want to end up in doom. The number of people making use of regular currency is more than those using Bitcoin; I believe about 99% of the world’s population are using regular currency.
