I was just wondering why GPU's are need for mining Bitcoins! I mean don't Bitcoins use mathematical equations to be solved by your computer and then generate the coin? Why would a graphics card be needed for this?  Huh

The graphics card is a modified processor made to do faster calculations of certain types. Such as mining bitcoins coincidentally. The processor just cant compare. Of course there are newer setups now that are even more powerful then the GPU.

Your PC got one or a few very advanced processor(s). A GPU have thousands of very simple ones. They can not do that much each but it adds up.

These mathematical equations can be split up in small, easy calculations. A cpu can do 2 or 4 calculations at a time, very fast. Imagine a room with 4 mathematicians. A gpu can do hundreds of calculations (needed to calculate 3D objects), but a bit slower. Imagine a room with 300 workers. The keywords are 'cores' for CPU and 'shaders' for GPU. In the end, more slow workers are much faster than a few fast workers.
