I think It will not return for sure and I doubt even legit users of Btc-e who got their bitcoin from hard earned money will get their bitcoin back. Vinnik will remain in prison for life while government officer will steal some of his bitcoin and government will just claim all bitcoin in exchange is involved with crime and hack so they will seize it too.

very hard to guess, but my guess is that they'll attempt to return funds at least. running away with the funds wouldn't help if the rest were caught.
and it would be a superb screw you to the authorities. if america gets their hands on the funds you just know they're never coming back.

BTC-e story is quite different than that of liberty reserve, liberty reserve like payment processors are illegal from start while btc-e is registered exchange platform and now they got into trouble because it's owner is suspected of being involved with money laundering directly and indirectly. However, come back of btc-e is quite unlikely.

I said highly unlikely. 98% change they won't be able to continue the business, and if they do somehow start up again with the same staff why would anyone trust them? They'd be smarter to start a new exchange from scratch. Having no rep is better than a bad rep when you're talking about handling other people's money.

I think the chances for a miraculous comeback of this exchange are below the 1% level. I have given up the hope of seeing back the 1 BTC that I lost, but I can understand that despite everything that happened, people still want to believe in a positive outcome. People should try to move forward and focus on buying back what they lost in crypto, or to trade their way up to slowly recover from the losses they swallowed. At this point there is nothing else that can be done.

Why thinking that BTC-E will be back? Any reason of yours or you are just optimisitc? This question doesn't really making sense. Feel sad for the people who lost their coins but thinking this exchange will comeback to service, I really doubt 100%.

returning to actual service is unlikely no matter what happens. it's too compromised now. the more important question is who controls the coins and what they're gonna do with them.

I think there is nearly 0 chance to see it return back just similar to Mt. Gox. I think some of coins may return to owners but not all for sure.

Read the history of two to five years of scamming sites are they returned back ? so it is clear that BTC-E is not coming back because of hanged victims who lost money and ready for trail ,believe me it is very hard for me to see more lost in this good crpto world without putting anyone account for that .

And that's exactly what they--or someone else--will do. These exchanges are like drug dealers and the ongoing, losing, war on drugs. As soon as one of them goes out of business, another one pops up to pick up the slack. They were pretty big, though. I suspect we're going to see some government regulation coming into effect so people don't keep getting scammed with these places. I trust very few of them.

If any exchange called btc-e returns, don't trust it, it will either be run by the gov to entrap people or it will be run by scammers looking to capitalize on btc-e's name, either way you will get scammed.

I can't really see it but I hope it does come back. BTC-e was a bit of an institution and will miss the entertainment of the troll box. Feel bad for anyone who lost coins on there and hope they are made good in the end.

I don't think they have the owner. They have someone who was involved with btc-e. They think they have the owner.

Indeed, I don't think they have the owner at all. Based on the indictment and what I've read from semi-insiders, Vinnik had some ties to the exchange, but nothing to do with the ownership or launch of the exchange. In the end, it doesn't matter. BTC-e is unlikely to contest anything in court, so the best move for the Feds is to present the patsy (Vinnik) as the kingpin and frame the takedown as a victory. (And hope no one asks why there was no announcement of funds seized.....)

MtGox is quite a different case. At this point it's still not 100% sure who is in control of the BTC-E funds - is it the government, or is it the co owner of BTC-E? Either way, both options won't do much in terms of raising the chances for the fair and square trader/investor of that exchange to see anything back. Don't forget that throughout the years, people may have gotten some of the dirty coins from the MtGox theft in their personal wallets. Everything can be followed through the blockchain, and if that turns out to be the reality, then literally EVERYONE will be marked as criminal. That's why I am glad that each time I withdraw coins to have them sent to my cold wallets, I first run them through a mixer.
