Anyone know why the DHS stepped in to freeze Mt. Gox's Dwolla accounts? There should be a court order that has reasoning in it right?

"Homeland Security's reason for interfering here is unclear" and "Needless to say, Dwolla users will be anxiously awaiting Homeland Security's reasoning for today's actions." Meanwhile, the price of BTC is in free fall on Gox and there is almost a minute of trading delay. Thanks for nothing, DHS. Edit: too late to agree with me - it's all changed. Sudden price spike and the lag is down to half a minute. All still DHS-induced, I imagine.

This would explain the price fall, if the US government wants to severely disrupt bitcoin this is a good way to do it, make it difficult to convert US dollars to bitcoins.
It won't stop the rest of the world or cash transactions but will certainly make it more difficult to get into bitcoins in the USA.

All this does is confirm that I have terrible timing. I transfered $130 from CampBX to MtGox at 10am this morning. Oh well, the silver lining is that illegal immigration and domestic terrorism in the US must have been eradicated, since homeland security has time to address Mutum Sigillum handling my money. Hooray, USA!

I'm sticking with coinbase and bitstamp for now. Hope Dwolla can somehow beat this.

This whole DHS thing is a perfect example of why we need Bitcoin. Freezing people's accounts and blocking transactions at whim. What The F*CK! Why do people put up with a system like that

Ehh...I think bitcoins are bigger than MtGox, and every time they almost "kill" bitcoin, I buy in cheaper.

I hope they are going after an actual crime or criminal. Not just using the faulty logic of "bitcoins are known to be used to purchase illegal items and for money laundering, and dwolla, a US company, enables this by allowing the purchase of bitcoins by US citizens." I hope there are some trade agreements in place between the US and Japan to stop this kind of strong arm tactic.
