“Bitcoin may die!”, “Bitcoin will crash!”, “Bitcoin may fork!”, “BIP148 vs BIP91”, “August 1 is D-day!“ are some of the confusing articles and comments you might have seen or heard in recent weeks. In this article, I’ll try to unpack what is probably (and probably not) happening to your Bitcoin in the coming weeks and what’s behind the latest headlines.

For many years, the Bitcoin community has been locked in what is known as the great scaling debate. What might seem like a simple problem (Bitcoin is becoming slower and more expensive to use), with a simple solution (increase the block size or implement another way to transfer Bitcoin altogether) quickly becomes complicated, technical and even political.

What is your thoughts on this issue???

My thoughts are that you must be Werner van Rooyen or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

In my opinion, I doubt bitcoin will crash/die. Even with slow transaction times, people still use it. As long as it doesn't get worse it should be fine.

I also agree with xhomerx10, the resemblance is uncanny lol

Make sense to me.
If it's really you then that's fine.
But if not, op, I think you should include the source link.  Wink

And my thoughts about this one, well, indeed these are the comments we've heard in this past weeks.
But we still don't know for sure yet, what will happen after aug 1st.

Look at the current bitcoin price! You definitely feel that now the bitcoin price has increased compared to before. This is a bit confusing but bitcoin prices I think will be safe only. And I think there's a saying in this forum that BIP148 will not have a significant impact on the bitcoin price change. I think everything still wants the same thing that is looking at bitcoin much better than before.

BTC is far from dying in my opinion. Those kind of articles are just meant to spread FUD. We however cannot be too certain yet. Let's see how these events unfold in the next few hours.

Bitcoin will not die after this date. In fact after all this passes by it will be even stronger and the price will be on the way up. Don't fear for your coins. BCC will be just another altcoin not worth mentioning, at least this is my opinion. I'm convinced that nothing bad, will happen to Bitcoin so we just have to wait the next couple days and be patient, without panic.

Bitcoin will not die after August 1st for sure. Instead try to buy more bitcoin as your pocket permits within today, because I believe, the dream run of bitcoin will start after August 1st. If you don't want to miss the chance of making some extra bucks, try to buy more.

Bitcoin is 45 billion USD strong which just can't die after the network split. So it's better to accumulate more and more bitcoin as per your convenience. That's what I did. The price may go down for initial one - two days, but after that, there will be no look back.

there is no issue in my opinion. it is just a fork and anyone can do it any time they want. this is not the first and will not be the last either.

the thing is if anyone wanted to really make something useful they would have done it on a new project not fork bitcoin with such a small amount of support.
do you think everyone was always happy with how bitcoin is? that is why there are so many altcoins exist.
some day Charlie Lee decided a different version of bitcoin is needed, with faster blocks (less time between them) and some other stuff so he forked bitcoin and created Litecoin. and this is what normal people do with no agenda.

with that said, nothing will happen to bitcoin. it is too big and already adopted. the price may be affected a little and have some fluctuations but in the end everything will be back to normal and bitcoin on the rising track and BCC on the same list as the rest of the altcoins are.

August 1 might come as just another uneventful day due to the BIP91 already implemented. Though of course, there is that Bitcoin Cash but most of us are treating it as just another alternative coin that came out of Bitcoin and it may not have any bearing whatsoever with the real Bitcoin. In fact, personally, I would consider it a little bit of good news if I would receive some BCC in my wallet.

This whole scaling debate has been hampered so much by overblown politics which should not have been that way because Bitcoin is supposed to be above politics. While we already have the many portions technically there was no immediate consensus on what to adopt due to lack of unity and squabbles.

Hopefully, within this year, technical changes can already be fully implemented so that the year 2018 can be the lucky year for Bitcoin in particular and the whole cryptocurrency in general.

Nothing is going to happen tomorrow except that bcc will come and exit the system immediately post launch, there by being the fastest coin to exit post launch. One more thing stop reading articles on btc or bcc as it's most likely not a major impact to happen on bitcoin. Honestly the best thing to do is sleep tight and ignore btc for two days tomorrow and day after, do not touch your coins it shall increase.

I agree and further I would also like to add that no matter how many problems bitcoin might be going through at present it's still number one choice of people and even the noobs are more interested in bitcoin than any other coin. Bitcoin has been there for so long and it will not die or crash so easily. Every problem has a solution and it's not different in case of bitcoin too.

It takes a long time for adoption of a coin. I expect BCC to crash. If BCC is the future, it needs time for adoption. Major players like Coinbase are not supporting it.
