Hi,

I have a multi-bit wallet which will not open with the correct password.

A nice girl on you tube has a tutorial about Electrum.

Their wallet created with the seed words synced and recovered history and coin.

All good news Smiley

I would like to help you with this task, please shoot me with more infos about it, and we can see what we can do.
As long as you remember the password, we should be good to go.

Best Regards.

Edit: If you can trust me, i can do this on my own PC as well and send you the coins directly into your wallet.

I installed multi-bit on another computer and restored the wallet to that computer and the wallet restored but was grayed out with password screen in front. I could see the balance was correct so entered the new password created when I did the restore.

By default, Multibit was frequently making backups of the wallet, if you still have them, you should try picking different ones when you are using restore wallet (from seed) option. If you are doing this, try using the oldest available backups first.

Alternatively, you can try to import your seed to Electrum 2.9.0 :

Hello,
I have been through this same problem is the last week. I can help you out if you need. Just follow the instructions and PM me if you need help.
First of all you need to locate your secret phrase - the set of words along with the spaces which Multibit HD had given you when you first created the wallet.

In case you have forgotten them or cant locate them - if you still have the .aes file in this location : (turn on hidden folders to locate it)
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\MultiBitHD\mbhd-<long string of letters and numbers are here>\mbhd.wallet.aes

if you still have the .aes file there you can decrypt the passphrase from that password that you use by installing Node.js - instructions are given in this page - https://www.npmjs.com/package/mbexport

Next once you have the passphrase, install Electrum - from this site - https://electrum.org/#download
Follow the instructions in this video how to restore your passphrase - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-KcY6KUVnY&t=28s

I hope that helps, if you need more help simply PM me.

Have a nice day.

R

Hi,

I have a multi-bit wallet which will not open with the correct password.

I installed multi-bit on another computer and restored the wallet to that computer and the wallet restored but was grayed out with password screen in front. I could see the balance was correct so entered the new password created when I did the restore.

I got "password failed to open" message and the wallet goes blank.

Now I go through the restore procedure, put in the seed words and then it says "syncing please wait" but its not going on line as the button on lower right stays red. I checked firewall and it has permissions.

I  deleted the install completely and reinstalled to another location on my computer, created another wallet and that opens and syncs fine, its empty of course.

I read that Breadbasket can  restore the Mutibit wallet so Installed that on Android Galaxy S1. I used the 12 wallet words to create the wallet and after syncing it 4 times at 1 hour each time it still shows no transactions. Its syncing again now by its own accord.

The only options on the Galaxy is "import private key" when I go there it brings up a qr scanner.

The details are Multibit 5.01 created with 12 words, I also have a backup from a few days ago

If  anyone can help me retrieve the coins there is $50 in BTC reward for you.

I hope that's allowed on the forum I just want to show how grateful I am if someone helps.

I am really not that savvy when it comes to crypto-currency so need a really easy gradient.
If you need help and someone wants to help you.
Never show them your seed or send them your wallet file

I would like to help you with this task, please shoot me with more infos about it, and we can see what we can do.
As long as you remember the password, we should be good to go.

Best Regards.

Edit: If you can trust me, i can do this on my own PC as well and send you the coins directly into your wallet.

I don't advertise OP to deal with this person who seems suspicious .
I'm 100% sure if you give him your wallet details and he backups the wallets and priv key , he won't send you funds

Well if you are going to call suspicous, i suggest you some reasons why i am suspicious. I have been on this forum quite a long time, and have completed a few deals.
So if you have some reasons, feel free to come back and let me know them.

Edit: you have quite alot of negative trust, so i do not think you are the most trustable person either Wink
