Do you have your adress and key ?
Every coin goes to a wallet and to access that wallet you will need the address and the key.
Did you bought on some service ? which one ?

most of the site of the past are now dead. did you remember which site you have used? 
maybe if you are lucky you have some btc with coinbase? virrwox? I hope you don't invest with some exchange like mt.gox Sad or other dead one.
