Yes, it's a altcoin, it doesn't arise from consensus.

Quite wrong. if BTC Segwit lost consensuses it becomes altcoin immediately?

When it was just segwit that is being proposed, some people are claiming that it will make bitcoin an altcoin. Now that bcc have split it, it is also being claimed as an altcoin. I think both of them would make bitcoin an altcoin because it deviates from the original but a needed change for bitcoin to move forward. Whichever gets the most support would make it the main and the other the alt.

We all know the altcoin, the BCH or the Bitcoin Cash is the altcoin, it was forked out of BTC so obviously it is the answer. But I know your point and I think people will still be uaing the common BTC.

BCH as said by them, is like a purifier because the supporter or the one that push this is Roger Ver who wants to follow the dream of Satoshi Nakamoto the creator of Bitcoin. With the current SegWit thing, it is like the bitcoin is not the original ne but, it will be still used commonly by the people.

It's considered as an altcoin. No one wants to adopt bitcoin cash maybe because it was new in cryptocurrency. In this case, bitcoin cash is an altcoin. I perceived it will be altcoin forever. Bitcoin is the best!

It seems to be true that BCC is altcoin, because I know that the events of BIP148 I did not happen and all went as usual, but still we wait until the date of August 10 will be clear everything

It is not bitcoin there technically you can call it an altcoin. And most altcoins hope to either replace or improve upon at least one Bitcoin component. Maybe just a few will adopt BCH but it will not be the main crypto for one thing. And it can very well used by some groups for their pump and dump activity like what we are seeing to a lot of altcoins right now in the market.

Just because you don't like it, you can't say that it is worthless. I also don't like these alts such as BCH, but at the same time, when someone is offering us free money, why should we forfeit them? To BCH's credit, the currency is already worth some $6 billion now, just a few hours after it was created.

Yes BCC or Bitcoin Cash is an altcoin, I believe it is. Because it is just a split coin from the main BTC (BITCOIN) which means it is just and alternative coin too.

Yes, its an alternative coin for Bitcoin having it's platform and system altered from the original Bitcoin. Dont know why they really had to split the Bitcoin cryptocurrency just to address the transaction speed of the current blockchain. Who know's what this split will do to the Old and New faces of Bitcoin.

Yes, It is AltCoin . Bitcoin Cash or BCH is bitcoin fork like many others (Litecoin, Dogecoin etc) but with only few modifications (improvements). Cryptocurrency is all about community support. Lets see how much support it gets from Bitcoin community. Though they have around 6 Billion market cap out of the gate its hard to predict its future.

Yes, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is considered by many as an alternative coin...at least for now as we don't know what can happen next. Anyway, since it is not replacing the real Bitcoin so there is no question that its category belongs to being an altcoin...in the same way we consider Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Monero, etc on the same group.

As of now, it has a good value actually maybe because this is the split coin coming from the real Bitcoin and so it has maybe its own intrinsic value. As to how this altcoin will perform in the trading days ahead, that is something really worth watching. I now have my own BCH equivalent to the BTC am holding in Bittrex...am happy with that since it is like receiving some free coins just doing nothing. Maybe a fork is not really that bad after all.

Yes it is an alt coin, Bitcoin cash is different from the "real" bitcoin. Have you noticed the Bitcoin Unlimited? They are the same with the event happened with the split / fork just like with ETH. It was split into two coins, ETC(ETH classic) and ETH(real ETH). We don't have to explain it in a scientific way, BCH is alt coin.

Yes because it is a divergence from the current bitcoin so would mean it is an alternative version of bitcoin so altcoin it is, regardless if more people support it and it becomes the leader it is still an altcoin, in my eyes anyway.

this has somewhat fazed me as well... the original bitcoin didn't have segwit and didn't have larger blocks, so, the bitcoin running now, which has segwit, and the forked one - bitcoin cash, whose blocksize was increased, are both modifications of the original.  Grin so that means the original bitcoin is gone (?)  Huh

It really doesn't matter. Whatever name, they are what they are. It's like discussing if Devian Linux or Slackware Linux is true GNU-linux. Sure, 100 times more devian users, but both are linux. And then there are distros that go against so many of linux principles, that most regard them as not being linux. The difference here is that Bitcoin = money (currency or asset). So instead of "whatever suits you best", there's an interest in protecting the "market share".

Nobody, not this "Core" group can claim to be more Bitcoin that the original Bitcoin. And as you say, what we have today are siblings and variants. Most variants will be worth $0. But if some variant holds value, it likely serves a purpose, just like a distribution does. And that's all that matters.

ETC(ETH classic) and ETH(real ETH)

Don't mean to offend but I don't quite agree with that -- dubbing real eth and the other unreal? Etc maintained the original chain while Eth was the edited chain but was supported by the majority - hence carried the original ETH ticker and name.

As with bitcoin (BTC), the majority supported segwit activation to upgrade bitcoin and so, the name and ticker of bitcoin is applied to the chain that the majority supports. For me, BTC and BCH are both real - coming from the same chain. The other has been labeled an alt because it's the minority chain. Question is, would it thrive? It's trading at BitTrex and the price is moving up fast. Earlier it was at $400 now up $524.51 https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/bch/markets/USD

Sorry about that if I was able to give a wrong definition. I'll change it to original instead of real ETH. I was about to describe the "real" ones as the original coin that we used to see and transact before this fork. I'm still not selling my BCH and I'm not yet claiming it coming from my desktop wallet but it's pretty to see the price is increasing.

Yes Bitcoin Cash is an altcoin, you can understand if a cryptocurrency created and not is Bitcoin, we will call it's altcoin when listed on exchange, call token when still crowdsale or mining first but not listed on any exchange on crypto world.

Altcoins is a derogatory term. Bitcoin Cash has 0.1% to do with things like EOS or IOTA or AntShares, and 99.9% to do with what Satoshi named Bitcoin. Also, it inherits the same "history", bit by bit, and any coin in this new coin belongs to a person that also owned a bitcoin. Unlike Ethereum, where the dev reserved over 16,000,000 coins for themselves, the developers here reserved 0 for them. Anything out there belongs to the same people that owned bitcoin.

This too gets listed to the altcoin, but this gets the added value than the litecoin and other few coins that has the base aas bitcoin. Here the majority of the process happens along with the bitcoin and only the functioning takes place in a different chain. Now itself several exchanges have listed trading pairs with several altcoins as well bitcoin.
