ok someone please help. Im kind of freaking out. I just sent almost 230 btc from one wallet to another , there have been 7 confirmations showing on the sender side but the transaction has not even showed up on the receiving end!

what do I do?

http://blockexplorer.com/address/16k6KeqY13MEwXCKa6uMWvsg7Bmqq1TzXb

thats the block explorer address for my receiving wallet

it says on the receiving end that 16k6KeqY13MEwXCKa6uMWvsg7Bmqq1TzXb is "Your Bitcoin Address"

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Are you sure the block chain is fully downloaded on the receiving client?

You might want to try a rescan. If that doesn't help, try deleting the block chain and redownload. Make sure to have a (very) recent backup of the wallet.

Checking that the block chain is fully downloaded: Compare the number shown in the bottom right of your receiving client to the current block number (132314). If the displayed number is smaller than that, just wait for the remaining blocks to be downloaded. Your transaction should show up.

Rescan: start the client from command line, but add -rescan to the command line. Like this (Linux):
./bitcoin -rescan

For Windows it's the same I guess. Probably without the ./ though.

Deleting the block chain: Well, it's safer to just move the block chain out of the way. Quit the Bitcoin client. Open the directory where your wallet.dat is stored. Move everything out of the directory, and only keep wallet.dat. Restart Bitcoin client. Wait a long time while it downloads the blockchain.

yeah the block chain on the receiving end is significantly lower than the sending end. So what happens if the block chain goes up to where its supposed to be and the transaction till doesn't go through?

I am just really worried because I did this transaction like an hour ago. It should of showed up by now. Sad

and I am using linux - ubuntu btw...

Don't worry! Since you did the transaction only recently, it's stored in a block with a high block number (132307 to be exact). As soon as the block number in the bottom right corner is greater than or equal to 132307, the transaction will show up.

The transaction is already confirmed by now, your receiving client simply takes some time to get up to date.
