I was wondering, is it possible to mine Bitcoins with just my laptop in terms of hardware? I am unable to afford the physical miners and I am interested in getting started.

you'll make next to nothing. Hardware miners are able to mine literally 10 thousand times what a single laptop can, and even then they only make 20$ a day (depending on the model). depending on the specs of your laptop you could mine cpu exclusive coin, however i wouldn't recommend it due to the poor heat circumvention of most laptops.

No. You need an investment to start with. Days when bitcoin was mineable with PC-s are long gone.

I know a man who gave up smoking, drinking, sex and rich food. He was healthy right up to the day he killed himself.

you can mine. but it's not profitable for sure. mining means to caculate the power uses and the cost of the card or mining tools that u use. its a good thing to understand how to mining,  you can search it on google or from any sources related to mining bitcoin. and there is a bitcoin profitably calculator, in there you can calculate your cpu cost, power cost and the profit that you will got.

of course you can. My old laptop with pentium2 have 5-6 Bitcoin blocks per day. But your laptop should have special sticker "Roger Ver inside"

With the rise of ASIC miners, mining bitcoin with CPU is not possible (you may never get a block or share on mining pool ever.)
But if you insist on mining, you can mine other coins like monero. With just old i5 GPU, you'll easily get about 30H/s on average and running them a week, you'll get equivalent of 0.00125 BTC in a week (current rate).

it depends on what purpose of bitcoin mining you will do. if it is for recreation or educational purpose surely you can mine your laptop and you will learn the basic of bitcoin mining but don't mine 24/7 your laptop might get screwed.if you want to make profit out of you laptop for bitcoin mining i suggest you avoid doing that. bitcoin mining is hardware intensive and laptop have limitation to mining hardware like gpus.

Why is it even under the Announcements section?
The OP should read first in the Beginners or Mining section.
You can read a lot about mining BTC, but utilizing your laptop for mining?
That's not a wise move. You'll end up regretting for just even thinking of mining bitcoin with your laptop.

You need a fairly high end GPU to make ANYTHING on foldingcoin.

Also, laptops are NOT designed for 24/7 operation, they make VERY VERY BAD mining machines (they're OK for running USB miners with, as that puts a very low load on the laptop).

Trying to mine Bitcoin (or ANY OTHER coin where an ASIC exists for the algorithm) is a waste of time on a regular computer - you won't make back enough to even NOTICE.

You do not get bitcoin if you are mining using a laptop.
Because of the difficulty of finding new blocks in bitcoin now requires a very large hashrate.
If you push yourself then your laptop will be damaged

Lol, it's impossible my friend! Mining Bitcoin with laptop is like digging borehole with a spoon. You know that is a big waste of time. Bitcoin mining difficulty is increasing very day and keeps requiring more computational power to mine Bitcoins. It's better to save some money and then invest it in mining hardware than mining with your laptop which is a big waste of time, trust me! Cool

Just like what others said, mining in laptop is not advisable and profitable. Just save some extra cash and build a mining rig. Grin

8 or 9 years ago you could use a desktop PC. Today it's not realistic to mine BTC with a laptop. To attempt BTC mining with a laptop would just be some form of accelerated life testing of your laptop. If you can't afford the physical miners, then it's not a good idea to put the functionality of your laptop at risk by attempting BTC mining. A further practical reason is that most BTC pools will probably not allow miners below a certain hash rate ( 1 Gh/s?) to even access their pool. You would just be tying up a port.
