What are some rough timelines before bitcoin lightning network reaches mainstream adoption do you think?

Idk if there is a rough timeline for lightning network. First Segwit has to be activated before anyone starts thinking about any next steps. But judging by the amount of time it took for Segwit to happen I cant imagine Lightning network going over smoothly. Maybe a year from now, maybe more?
