mixing gpu in 1 rig

i have a system running 7 gigabyte gtx 1070 G1 cards. I added another 1070 card to the system, but its a different model gigabyte, it is the windforce model. i added it using the m.2 extension card. problem i am having is it did not show up in the device manager. i restarted it a few times, nothing showed up. i connected the monitor directly into the new added card and the display worked fine, but it did not show any new hardware in device manager.

any ideas?

m.2 extension cards can cause all sort of problems
- try a different slot for the m.2 to pcie
- try booting windows every time adding just one card
- try uninstalling the nvidia drivers
- if all fails I would reinstall windows

even if its allowing me to see the desktop on the card that is not loading the driver?

You didn't stated which operating system you're running.
But, if I would be you, I would go for some linux mining OS, mainly if you want to mine with 6+ GPUs.
And it doesn't matter if your last card is different brand.

i am using windows 10. i just installed the same gpu on the system, and its doing the same thing. this time i did reinstall the intel chipset and its not showing the pci bridge on the m.2 slot like it was before. i can view the desktop through the hdmi of the new card, but it is not showing the card in device manager.

just noticed it is coming up under monitors>Generic PnP Monitor. Won't let me update to the nvidia driver...what to do...

reinstalled the nvidia drivers, that didnt work. still shows the monitor as generic.

i am reinstalling windows. see if that works.

I think linux is hashing lower than win10

make sure you set up your bios correctly as well

There is no problems to mix differents GPUs in the same RIG :
You can mix :
 - cards manufacturers
 - models in the GPU manufacturer offer
 - even GPU manufacturer (nVidia nd AMD)
But there is a lot of problems with the M2 adapters.
