Hey All, Just a quick question. I bought about 10 D3 in the last/first batch at 2699 USD each and just bought some at 1599. I am quite surprised to see why Bitmain would discount the miners by over 40% all of sudden. Am I missing something here? Needless to say a part of me is dying inside slowly, saying I should have waited. Is this a common thing bitmain does? I know Baikal did a similar thing but that was more from a competition and spec perspective but why bitmain. Clearly I am in shock Thanks for the replies in advance

Your batch 1 units will cover the spread by being able to mine early. This was done with the L3s too. Better to have batch 1 at $1000 more each you should be able to make that back with a 4 week jump on the october batch.

My understanding is that you getting in on the first batch enables you to mine a month earlier than the people who got in on this second October batch. By having a one month head start, the mining you could get done in that first month before the second wave hits will potentially be way more profitable than the 1.1k price drop you would get from waiting for the second batch. By the time a third batch is released, profitability will have come down tremendously.

Simple math says that if DASH price stays at the current level, they wont release a third batch anytime soon. Price per unit will have to be less than the manufacturing price.

I wonder how miners who purchased Ibelink at 6k or Innosilicon A5 $10k feel about these new Bitmain prices, but at least Ibelink is supposed to deploy this month in a few days so they have hope. Innosilicon is not due to deploy until October yikes.

Ibelink can ROI before end of September, possibly mid October, if delivered on time. Innosilicon will have a harder time, but if it mines all of October, it'll ROI before end of the year, probably by start to mid December. You also have to remember DASH can go up (and down). If there's more miners and DASH gets even more popular, an bump up, is not out of the question. If this happens, the only losers will be those who didnt buy miners (or dont hold dash). I

Thanks guys for the pointers. Yes I know I can make 1-2K more per miner in my first batch, but the more point I was trying to make is. Shouldnt Bitmain be more honest about their selling price etc. Cost +X% or whatever. Yes I know Apple has ridiculous margins with iPhones but atleast the price does not change weekly. Anyways lets see how it goes. One thing is true Baikal, iBelink are dead if Bitmain keeps going at this rate. Bitcoin Miners their is nothing new coming, Cannan is almost quiet selling non profitable 741s. Ah well hope the mining gods show us some mercy!

2.5x s9s will prob make the same or more then 1 d3 in november so they had no choice but to drop the price and they both almost cost the same and use similar power. Even an l3+ is a gamble for the October batch but at least it uses less power and has a lot more coins to spread out the hashrate to. X11 needs more coins!

L3+ isn't much of a gamble, in this age when A2/Alcheminer/Titan units are MORE profitable than they have been for 2+ years and even the Gridseed GC3355 based units are profitable.

Half again the hashrate, better efficiency - they could get away with $2500 to $3000 given the D3 at $1600.
