It's the first Massively Multiplayer Online Cryptocurrency Game - MMOCG.
You can merge mine this coin with BTC or LTC or play the game which is implemented in the qt to get some coins, which is called human mining. The block reward is only 10.
Devs are working hard to update the wallet, future plans involve android or game only versions.
Market cap is just around $500k, trading volume of only $5k for a truly innovative coin amongst all the copycat & scamcoins. It's growing and it hit 10,000 players/team in 1 month.
Is it only me or do you see the potential?

Huntercoin shines

The sole shining light in the sea of negative numbers on CoinMarketCap seems to be huntercoin, whch has seen its market capitalisation rise by more than 50% in the same period.

It is unclear why this particular cryptocurrency is bucking the downward trend, but the fact that around 80% of the coins are only obtainable inside a virtual universe which resides inside the blockchain, could have something to do with it.

How can walking around in a game solve the math needed to find blocks?

It seems a centralised source of this coins, means risk of owner just taking as many as they like or at least clients will hack to just search whole map.

edit... i read the page and it is not really like a realtime walking around rpg, i thought it would be like like Bit Fantasy where you also find bitcoins on the ground sometimes.  Still cool idea, very clever!!

Everything is in the block chain. Coins are distributed onto the map when a miner finds a block. HUC is provably fair.

I posted recently about a coin/game mix and someone recommended huntercoin.

I have a few questions... outside of the game generating the coin while playing, what use does the coin have?

is there a market place where you can purchase the coin for in-game use? Will there be a demand for the coin for in game use (will the game be addictive enough that people will be willing to pay micro transactions?)

Is there a plan for a mobile game?

I believe a coin could be VERY successful with a coin, if done right.

@Waspark: When you mine the coin 20% of the block reward will be given to the miner and 80% will spawn into the game.

•   Total 10 coins Per Block – 1 to the miner, 8.75 onto the Map.
•   Crown of Fortune – 1 Unique Item on the map which will generate 0.25 HUCs per block
•   When a Hunter harvests coins and brings them back to a spawn area, the coins will materialize in their wallet, Miners will receive 10% of these ‘banked’ coins (TAX)
•   When a Hunter is killed, 4% of the coins they held will be taken by miners. The rest will be dropped to the ground.
•   Hardware Miners should receive in total (over time) 20% of the Block Reward (2 Coins) + Player Death Taxes.

@jonnysomething: The goal of the game is to 'hunt' the coins and get it into a spawn area, so you will be credited with the amount of the coins you earned.
Snailbrain and his team are working hard for a mobile version of the game.

This is one of very few coins that is actually innovative.  I don't have time to human-mine myself, but I think the idea has huge potential, especially in developing countries since it is possible with a regular desktop computer and some human time/effort.  For those of you human-mining, I'm curious, how many HUC are you earning per day?

I'm only playing a little bit off and on as I've been swamped with work lately, so I only get 5~20 HUC usually. But that's not doing much at all. I'm not sure what I could get if I really tried hard.

I found few more articles
https://www.wallstreet-online.de/nachricht/6588953-huntercoin-the-online-game-that-earns-you-money
http://bitcoin-betting-guide.com/james-cannings-blog/huntercoin-an-innovative-and-fun-altcoin/
http://letstalkpayments.com/huntercoin-worlds-first-peer-peer-massively-multiplayer-online-cryptocurrency-game/
http://bitcoinwarrior.net/2014/02/huntercoin-online-game-earns-money/

As stated difficulty seems to increase rapidly.
the HUC will die ! too hard to play this game and very very cheap the price of HUC !

Are you still trolling or just completely retarded? You make me wonder. Look back in a few years, then hang yourself.

yes i don't think he understands.

Hard to play = Human Mining Difficulty is High (and will get higher)

Let's see, when HUC will hit Cryptsy.

Trading resumed and the price is cheaper than ever. Looks like it's seriously undervalued. There's more effort in this coin than in 99% of all altcoins. Get in now or regret Wink
