I don't want to empty my wallet and start a new one because I have addresses I have given out to others.

I've been reading all this stuff about downloading an anonymously signed wallet (how can anything be anonymously signed? ) and all the warnings and caveats... Is there likely ever to be a safe and simple way to do this, or are we just stuck with messy kludges?

Honestly I am sick of this already! Those guys are supposed to be running a currency, but they are acting like a bunch of amateurs. I know it's not Electrum's fault...

Thanks

The best and safest way is to send your funds to a new wallet. In your case, that would involve updating any addresses you have given out to others. Unfortunately, there are risks if you want to continue to use the same wallet.

It is recommended to run the BCC wallet in a VM or similar as to isolate it away from your existing wallets.

Thanks for the info. It just leaves me with one question: Is it worth waiting for some other solution to arise, or is this as good (bad!) as it gets?
Thanks a lot.

If you want to risk selling your BCH for less than $50, you could wait. But IMO the coin will not be worth a lot in the future.

If you send your Bitcoins to a new wallet and import the old one (that still contains the BCH, but no BTC), you will be able to send them to an exchange. This way you will not be risking your coins with a shady wallet like Electron Cash.

Just make sure to run the Bitcoin Cash wallet with a different PC or Virtual Machine if you don't want to risk it.
