Hello guys, just wondering what the preferred Bitcoin storing method is around here, should I keep them in a online wallet like blockchain.info or keep them on my computer. And should I have it encrypted or put a password on it?

Try https://blockchain.info/. Online, secure and able to store backups on computer or printed page but your probably best store in multiple locations.

I have decided to use a computer wallet, is it over precautionary to set up a password and encrypt or is it safe enough?

blockchain never has access to your private keys so they couldn't steal your coins even if they wanted too.

I'm a newbie obviously but my rationale was: A PC can suffer from being stolen, fire damage, hdd crash, water damage etc and unless you've backed it up on paper or elsewhere surely you've had it? That's why I'm not keen on the Android-only wallets, what if the phone gets stolen? But I must be missing something or no one would use them.

So I use a web wallet plus paper. Blockchain have backups, cloud-based etc, so it's unlikely to suffer those issues above. But use a different username to here otherwise you could get hacked into, even with two-factor authentication.

I do not trust services where I could store my wallet in the "cloud" / online / call it whatever you like.
I prefer a simple setup which requires some USB sticks and TrueCrypt.
