I screwed up and don't want to make things worse so I need help.
I sent my btc to nano after the fork so my eletrum wallet is empty.
I was hoping it would work out that way but it has not.
Can I still follow the directions on creating another electrum wallet, Electron Cash, etc?
I do have another computer to install electrum on. Both are windows 7.
Thank you in advance.

Do you have the seed that you did get on setup of the ledger wallet?
If yes, you can import the seed into for example an electrum wallet and spends the funds from there.
But if you do not have the seed at all,  and you formatted the ledger wallet, your funds will never be accessible probably.
However you should provide us some more information, so we may assist you better with your request.

Thank you for responding. Yes I have the ledger seed and the nano is accessible.
Let me clarify. 1 btc was on the nano on aug 1. 6btc were in electrum on aug  1.
I moved 6 btc to nano on aug. 3.
the 1 btc that was on the nano was converted to bch automatically.
So now my nano shows 7btc and 1bch.

Also I have not made any other moves since moving to nano.

I'm not sure exactly what the issue is? You want to get the 6bch from your old Electrum addresses?

If so:

1. install ElectronCash from www.electroncash.org
2. Restore in ElectronCash using old Electrum seed
3. Enjoy your BCH

NOTE: You may have to fiddle with the network settings in ElectronCash to make sure it is running on BCH network.

If you just restored your wallet from the seed, you shouldn't have any password set on your wallet.

Can you try to restore again and don't set any password while creating the new wallet?

You will need to create a new wallet on Electrum as the seed is stored on the ledger device. You would create a new wallet in Electrum and indicate you want to use a hardware device. Once that wallet is created, you could send the balance from your existing wallet to the newly created on using the Nano S.

You can have multiple Electrum wallets on the same PC so there is no issue with that. You can even have multiple wallets open at the same time.

You just need to create a new Electrum wallet with the Ledger Nano and select hardware wallet option during the creation as shown below:

Once that wallet is created, you can send the BTC from your other wallets to the new wallets.

You'll probably have to manually copy the transaction ID/address to a BCH block explorer...

I haven't checked the code, but I suspect the electron Devs didn't change the "view on block explorer" links and they're all BTC only services...

So if it is trying to look up BCH transactions it'll fail

As for your coins being unconfirmed in BCH, it sounds like you're connected to a BTC server instead of BCH server. Check the Network settings in Electron as previously advised. If block# is higher than 480,000 you're on the BTC network

Sounds again like the server you're connected to is either not a BCH one, or it is broken.

You can always just switch off Dynamic Fees in the "Tools -> Preferences -> Fees"... and then turn on "Edit Fees Manually". You should then be able to set up your transaction, click preview to get an idea of the transaction size and calculate your fee yourself. I've no idea what the current fees for BCH network is tho... I'd guess low, as the BCH network seems fairly underutilised.

Both times I was on a bch server. Editing the fee worked. All 6 bch are unconfirmed on ledger so just waiting on that. And hope I am all set now. Thank you so much for the help. I will never use electrum again. Ledger and Exodus both automated the process. I had some in all 3 wallets.

You shouldn't blame Electrum for the ElectronCash issues... ElectronCash was forked from Electrum by relatively unknown Devs... the issues with it are their's... not ThomasV's
