What wallet do you use?

For the bitcoin-qt wallet/client securing it goes as follows:

First step: encrypt it. This will ask for a password. Use a strong one, that means preferably longer than shorter and using characters, numbers and special characters. Do not store that password on that PC.

Second step: Use file -> save wallet to save your encrypted wallet to an usb stick or several, to be able to recover it. This of course must be repeated from time to time as you gather more BTC.

As far as adresses go in bitcoin-qt: Open the receive bitcoin tab. And use the add address button in the lower left.

Hope that helps.
