How to buy bitcoin anonymously?

Hi,

So I was looking to buy bitcoins anonymously and saw that there are only a few exchanges that claim so.

After reading reviews It seems coinmama allows buying btc anonymously but after creating account and trying to fund.. they say they need a ID before I can buy??? wtf? I read that they allow around $150 worth of btc without ID but I was buying only $120 worth so not sure why its asking me to upload an ID. So I backed out and now looking for some other providers.

Also, If I buy from any random exchange that doesn't support anonymous payment i.e. require ID etc what are the chances that they will know what I am doing with that BTC? Will there be a track record?
For eg I buy x amount of btc via coinmama to "54gfgf5g4..." this address and I use that address to start buying other altcoins on other platform, will there be a link/track record that will eventually lead to my coinmama account? Am I being paranoid lol :p

I am not looking to do any nasty stuff but I don't think I'll feel comfortable if I find out that my transactions can be tracked like this?

what about buying them here in the market? you can use a credit card that do not require your personal data, to send the fund to the seller and receive bitcoin in your wallet

Unfortunately considering where I live, here hardly anyone even knows about bitcoin...

Buying through TOR seems complicated thought, on other note wasn't TOR data leaked to the govt.(or something like that)?? If it was done once then it can be done again.

The best is to buy face to face. A good source to find someone is localbitcoins. Unfortunately the site is not available in all countries because in some this way to trade Bitcoin is prohibited. I have used localbitcoins several times and it worked out great. You should meet with the sell on a public spot like on a main station where a lot of people are so s(he) could not rob you.

Anonymity is tricky because all Bitcoin transactions are permanently stored in a public ledger. Anonymity relies solely on the difficulty of associating addresses with people.

I think it is hard now to buy bitcoin anonymously because most of the wallets and exchange requires to fill out some forms so they will have a clear information about your identity and also to avoid scammers or bad people in their site so i think it is nearly impossible to buy now and you just need to adjust so you can buy your own bitcoin easily.

Buying bitcoins anonymously is difficult.

1- You could buy a prepaid credit card or gift card with cash and buy them but you will get a bad exchange rate.

2- Locally with cash craigslist or localbitcoins
It is also hard to turn bitcoins in cash anonymously so if you can find someone is trying to do that it is a good exchange but you also get into a realm of risky transactions with strangers.

In fact very few sellers accept Paypal here as it can be reversed up to a time frame of 180 days. This way after you buy from a seller using Perfect Money as a payment method the seller will not know your identity except your Perfect Money UID(user Id).

It is very dangerous to buy bitcoin face to face. If you decide to do so make sure you choose a very public place with lots of surveillance cameras otherwise there have been cases where the seller was robbed from the buyer.Same can happen if the seller is a dirty scammer. You can make bitcoin anonymous with a few tweaks but you have to search yourself for that. Localbitcoins remains a good place if you are really decided to buy or sell bitcoin face to face and know the risks of such trade.

Thanks guys for your input.. I understand it better now.

So even if i buy btc anonymously as soon as I use it to trade on exchanges eventually it will be linked to my name and cannot be avoided by anyone.

I'll just proceed with coinmama i guess uploading docs and all, since am not looking to do anything except trading it should be fine.

You can buy from other person from this forum but before you did it better ignore your intention. Do you have a problem buying a bitcoin from an exchanger because that's the only safe way to buy bitcoin.

This depends on country/atm. Verification requirements tend to range from none to fingerprints/ID-scans. If you're lucky enough to find an ATM with no verification requirements, it's one of the best and safest ways to buy bitcoin anonymously.
