last month with all the fear and the FUD and all the drama (which was mostly true because of UASF) price dropped down to below $2000 (less than 20% drop) and it only lasted a day and came back up in less than a week.

right now price is headed for $3500 and we no longer have any kind of big drama or FUD for months. it is all clear path ahead of us. worst case scenario if the same FUD and a lot more drama happens (which won't for a couple of months) is a drop down to $2900 for 2 hours and jump back up to $3100.

I would say wait a little bit more since we are still on the new ATH on bitcoins price as of now we are on 3394 usd which is already high but rest assured price would really pull back later on and that's the time you should purchase bitcoin because we might now in a bubble for the price increase too much on a shorter time frame. Possibilities of dips later on would really be possible so you should watch out on that.

You should buy now, before the price go up again because of segwit. Though there is always a chance that the price will pull back, it may take some time before it happens. The market is on an uptrend now and if everything goes well,  it may go up some more in the coming week.

I dont think there is a chance of a lower price now.
Okay the bitcoin cash might be there but it affected bitcoin the other way around.
I thought it was going down and getting ready for another buy. But it seems like there is a little chance now for a price drop. Better buy now and just risk it, be with the wave of those who will earn more.

Hard to say whether we're currently at the end of a rally (with Segwit being activated being the end of a hype cycle) or at the very beginning of one (space suits not included). I feel like we may revisit the upper 2000s again, but I wouldn't hold my breath for anything below USD 2700,-.

Many newbie have this same question and I have seen many of newbies like you making thread on this same topic. The only suggestion I can give you and other newbies is that currently bitcoin is just undervalued so you can buy bitcoin whenever you can without looking at its price but you need to hold all those bitcoin tightly for next few years to get maximum out of it.

Just buy bitcoin at current price which is still lower than $4k.

I don't think it is a good time to buy the bitcoin, it's actually good time to sell it for those who bought it as low as $1800 last week. Most of them have made more than 100% of profit. Now it is time me to hold or sell.
If you really want to get in then try alternate way that is altcoin. Currently all of them are down and seems to be good to invest in. Once they all go up you can transfer the profit into bitcoin and enjoy the high rates of exchanges. Bitcoin is worth investing only if it goes down below 2.5K at this situation.

Thanks for the information guys. I guess i'll invest then and hold for a couple of years and take my chance in some alt coins. I was going to this morning but I'm in Australia and services and wallets are really limited here and I'm using Coinjar. It takes 1-2 business days to process bigger payments which can be rather bad for short term tradings.

anyone who bought a set amount over an extended period of time probably came out better than if they bought all at once.

nothing goes up forever. there's a new bitcoin that might screw with the price. there's a fork in november that might bring some serious controversy. it's not all rainbows in the future.

Historically, every time bitcoin has an exponential jump up, it has a post-peak crash down to the peak of the previous bubble, before recovering. This has happened about 4/5 times in the last 7 years. If it happened again, that would be a brief dip to $1200 or so. However, this may not happen this time, so if you're only playing with a few % of your net worth, dive in and join the fun!

A quarter of a bitcoin? Do you plan on trading with it or holding it long term? If you plan on holding for the long, just buy now and forget it. Buy more whenever you can afford to. Rinse and repeat.

I see that bitcoin wont drop on that price again if you can see its track its all bullish. And 4500$ price might be seen before the end of this year,better to invest now ,dont be late in investing into bitcoin.

Bitcoin will not drop to lower than $3000 in this month, and more likely to reach over $4000 in August 2017.
If you want to invest, do it right now before it on bull run again, because segwit will be lock-in today and it is a big news.
When litecoin got segwit, it rise to over $40 within a month, that's what will happen with bitcoin too if segwit be activated.

Take 8-10% of what you want to invest, and do it right away. It will allow you to get involved right away without too much risk and learn how bitcoin works.

Take another 25%, and wait for the first pullback before putting it in.

With another 50%, you decide how you want to put it in. I would advise dollar cost averaging, or on a set schedule of some sort.

Hold the last 15%, and wait for a MAJOR pull back or worse case, a crash event. Don't try to time a bottom, wait patiently until it has fully bottomed and has started back moving up.

I'm also thinking of investing around 500e (my dad became interested in bitcoin and asked me if I wanted him to give me that money to invest) so should I do it like this aswell or maybe invest some % into ETH or LTC maybe? I didn't follow those two markets, still don't, but I wanted to know if that could be "safe" aswell.

Just buy it.  And half year later buy some more and a year latter a bit more again. 5 years from now you will not care if you buy btc at $1000 or $2000 or $3000 or $4000. It will all look the same.

I personally would not buy right now at an all time high. The price will probably drop below $3000 and maybe to $2500 at some point. You could just wait for a correction. But you never know because the price could just go up more and then drop later.
