My favorite so far is Pioneer. Think Euro Truck Simulator but in space and with some spaceship battles. I haven't gotten into any spaceship battles yet, but I still find it to be an amazing and relaxing experience. Also, the graphics are superb, mostly when you're in space.

Quake Live was very good free game. Now it is paid, but still worth buying.

As a kid, the most famous game at that time was Pacman. I lived to grow to see the Gameboy, then the PlayStation, and finally the PC Games. I've played them all, and today my favorite would be world of Warcraft
