Not really. Everyone that had a clue about Bitcoin knew Segwit was going in sooner or later. It's the most tested code ever, it's perfectly fine. Im tired of conspiracy theorists and their bullshit. I wonder where they will go once we get Segwit enabled and nothing wrong happens. They will stick around for a while waiting for a doomsday scenario that will never come, that will be fun to see. They will become like Alex Jones of cryptocurrency waiting for collapse.

The price may drop for all I know. People like to sell the news. Just buy the dip, we are going $5000 this year (if NYC agreement clowns don't ruin the price, and hardforkers are always ready to ruin the price with their idiocy)

August 8 is not really surprising as most are expecting already this coming activation. But I still see this as something of an event. More especially if we are again making another new ath.

It was well known stuff right before the august month. Mos of us had the news from managers and clues from the news that segwit will get locked and there won't be any splitting or vigour effect of this hard fork. Now 8th August is just the date when everything gets locked in and decided in full fledged that segwit wins. After effect might include increased price of bitcoin because it is the main supporter of bitcoin.

The excitement was in the last a few months during the test phases and while reading how SegWit will help bitcoin etc. now I'm just happy that we finally got it. but I'm definitely excited about the upcoming TumbleBit and Lightning network though that will be brought after SW getting activated.

Once locked-in (roughly 200 blocks away), segwit needs another full activation period before actually activating.

The period of excitement has gone with August 1. Segwit was expected and clear to all, more or less everyone knows what could be expected so tomorrow will pass without drama. But what we all expect and probably are excited for is further rise of bitcoin price and we all wonder where it stopes, where is the highest limit it could go.

There's no way we will know for certain (if I could forsee the future I would already be a billionaire) and segwit being locked may have been already priced in. So it's possible we will see a sell the news effect. But even if that happens it's only a better buying opportunity for us pioneers.

I'm excited and I'm traditionally a bigger blocker. I think a lot of devs have been working largely on the assumption SegWit will happen and this brings it one step closer. Entering into the home straight. Excited to see what devs do once SegWit actually activates.

Only three short months before SegWit2x HF (if it happens), hopefully we see something tangible from SegWit before then (might make it easier to postpone or drop the 2x bit).

According to Segwit.co, we actually only need 1916 blocks, which means that there are 163 blocks left, or something like 1 day and ~3 hours. So maybe it's really tomorrow? I have read a few times people talking about August 8th. So I wouldn't doubt that this one is the correct date.

I believe the excitement is already included in the recent price increase, so no surprise here.

Technology wise, I'm really looking forward to the lightning payment network, instant and anonymous, how good is that!
