Just found this article on SEC website regarding investments:

https://www.sec.gov/oiea/investor-alerts-and-bulletins/ib_coinofferings

Does it mean anything new for investors as well as ICO teams as far as regulations are concerned within US? So no investing in ICO's if I live in US? What about participating in teams? What if the person is on H1B visa: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2070307.msg20676950#msg20676950

Thanks
Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

VPN does not solve the issue at all times because of a high sophisticated technology used by some US internet service providers because they know most of the site you visit which might make you their target, the warning by the SEC is just an empty threat and i am sure it shall be revisited.

Yeah, I'd think NSA has sophisticated technology to crack down, for example Ross Ulbricht (SilkRoute guy) is in jail, and so were some of the traders on it. Can you elaborate on SEC making an empty threat? Have they done it in the past? This seems like a very formal document. Is it safe to work with a ICO team while residing in US?

There is nothing stopping you or anybody living in the US to do any type of business or partner with other people, you can join an ico team and might not be fully participate in their financial process (SEC threat), your share shall be sent to you through other payment method.

Empty threat because they shall not implement such law because most of the US parliament members are involve in cryptocurrency business then ask me who will pass the law ?
