Will BTC go up or down after segwit lockin ?

Very simple question.

I have read 2 main opinions:

Down: Because the BTC Price just can´t go up that quickly and it won´t hold that price.

Up: Because Segwit is awesome and some hedgefunds will invest into BTC too after the update.

I don´t think BCC will go up, maby it will be pumped or so but it is a coin without real value. It is where you can perfectly see what well organized FUD can do.

BCC is a coin with the intention of far less decentralisation, just an attempt to gain power for some involved parties.

I vote for down in the short/medium term. If it had occurred without all this forktastic rubbish then it might be a different matter, but it could be a rocky ride between now and November.

Well you missed something,
should be -Up a moment for a few days and then down for a week-.
So i vote up,because after Segwit we will see a pump(i called it bulltrap) for a short time and then Bitcoin price slowly declining.
after a week or month,Bitcoin try to get back and gain its momentum and in the end of year we will see another ATH.

everything is possible,and so far from my calculation Bitcoin movement should be like this.
but who knows what will happen in the future ?

My predict is down until September, if Bitcoin price can down but still high than $3000, I think it just is correction price of Bitcoin and this time very good for buy more. And this happens will helps the price of altcoin can recovery in short time and make the market bustling back

There is no doubt about it, bitcoin price will rise up after segwit lock-in.
The only reason that can make it drop back is if only some whales cash out more than BTC5000 in several exchanges.
Well, I don't know how much it will affect bitcoin price, but it should be a good discount for people who waiting for bitcoin price decline a bit.
I am sure bitcoin could reach over $3500 in this month and fall down after reach new ATH.

I think it will be still a normal just what the movement of the price right now .. segwit is already helping a lot about the speed of the transaction and lesser the miners fee for every transaction that i think that can attract more business and people to invest in bitcoin so the price should be increase and its normal if you are seeing the price drop because there are whales are selling and buying bitcoin if there are people are panic to sell they will buy bitcoins again to get the benefits and to take the advantage if people are panic to sell they can buy a cheap bitcoin that can give them a free profit once the price is increase back again..

After getting locked in completely if SegWit proves itself by managing the transactions in a smooth way just like we used to have before when we started using Bitcoins and if we see lower fee and better confirmation speeds and a good scaling gets done, then why Bitcoin won't go more higher?

we are expecting that the price of bitcoin has to increase more and more in any case. people were expecting about bitcoin that its price will decrease after 1st August but we can see that it its price in trading too much high as compare to the previous time.

there is no reason for it to go down but with bitcoin we never know, the market maker decides
so probably down for a little while (maybe even half a day) just to manipulate and get some cheap coins in accumulation and then up fast enough.

As of now. No significant movement on the price that it could go to the moon. It only increased a $100 on the price and decreased quickly. It's just a marketing strategy i guess. Im seeing altcoin market is getting recovered from massive correction. I guess this is a good sign for altcoin market. In my opinion bitcoin will drop to $3000. I think im gonna go for altcoin for now and dive in when i think it will go up.

price is calming down for now apparently
but it never lasts for bitcoin, the expectation was a drop after the activation because of timing which was after the rise and it already happened. now it is on the recovery from that drop. from now on, i would expect more rise for a while and then a big correction in a couple of weeks of bull market.
