Is that means Bitcoin finally will be faster?
Will it have cheaper fee's? because right now I don't use BTC thanks to the high fee's..

Segwit is "locked in" today, but not activated. There is another epoch to wait through, which I think was originally intended to ensure that miners were ready for Segwit activation (thus preventing orphaning). The BIP91 saga sort of made that motivation moot, but we still need to wait for one more difficulty retarget before we can start using Segwit transactions on the mainnet.

As for fees, there is an immediate bump in capacity, but the real savings will come when we start to see a usable Lightning Network.

So what are the benefits of Bitcoin SegWit?

I know it stands for Segregated Witness but is it like a patch/update to the Bitcoin currency system because I am curious as to how it will effect the utility, and ultimately the price of Bitcoin.

Now entering.... A new era of Bitcoin networks.  Grin

even after grace period. there is then issues

1. new client version release needed that allows user to actually use the keypairs.
2. people then moving funds over to segwit keypairs (can cause mempool bloat/delays while people try using segwit)

dont expect drama to end any time soon
dont expect double capacity
dont expect quadratic/malleated/spam transactions to be impossible
