Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Mini

Hi guys,

do you have experience with the Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Mini for mining? i would buy this model cheaper than other 1080ti, but im note sure if the cooling is enough for mining, as its a "mini" card.

what are ur tought and experiences with this card so far?

and do you think it is possible to run 3 of them with a 750w PSU?

I have one it is fine at tdp settings like 65%

I would buy more if I could find a place selling them.

This is an ok card for mining. I would recommend VTC for mining as that has been a top earner for me for a few weeks now. The cooling on those is ok and you can expect 75-80c temps while mining with a mild overclock and 100% power limit.

If the price difference is not so much, I guess the three fans 1080ti will be beneficial in a long run and obviously have a better resale value.

i remember that the mini version of any gpu is throttling a lot, and with a 1080ti you have already a very powerful card, that will throttle even more, so be careful, better to buy a proper cooling card

I'm also interested in buying the mini version. I did not find anywhere this info. Could you please give us more details? I thought that being smaller, the airflow in a PC would be better.

I don't have the 1080 ti model, but I have their 1080 and 1070 ti models.

 If you run a 1080 ti Zotac Mini at efficient settings - around 150-175 watts - they should have adaquate but not great cooling.
 I would NOT try to push one past 200 watts for mining - the 1080 models have a 180 watt TDP and cooling was marginal at THAT power level.


 The issue is mostly that they have a small heatsink compared to bigger models, which limits how much heat they CAN dump at a given "temperature rise" point.


 If you run them at 150 watts, a 750 watt supply should be enough for 3 of them + MB/RAM/CPU/et cetera.
 You PROBABLY could run them as high as 170-180 watts with a 750, but you would be pushing a bit there.

I was actually quite surprised at how well their 1080ti model runs. While it struggles to exceed 720 H/s on equihash (still not bad for a lower-tier 1080ti), it doesn't exceed a core temp of 72-73 C even at a 90% power limit. (Individual units will vary as a result of inconsistent application of thermal paste + the silicon lottery.)

Keep in mind that this is one card in a rig with 5x 1060s, so I don't have a bunch of the same Zotac mini 1080ti cards in close proximity. The cooling performance would take a hit with a bunch of those powerful 2-fan cards in a cramped rig.

Of course, if you can get a model with a better cooler for a similar price, go for it. I have an MSI Duke 1080ti in another rig and I strongly prefer it over the Zotac mini.

To further support what mining legends philima and quintleo said, the 1080ti mini is a great mining card if you can still find it at normal prices (which should be at around $700-800). So good luck hunting.

Just to add, i've noticed that "MINI" cards are usually better for mining as they draw less power compared to full-sized cards. They hash at almost the same rate anyway so mini is always better for mining.

Yeah the sleeve fans and temps would be the other side of the argument probably. I'd actually like to hear what the mining veterans have to say about this. I think fan size or class or number doesn't matter when your GPU temps do fine anyway. Never heard of anyone breaking their GPU because they ran their fan speed a bit higher than normal (which is all you need to do with "mini" GPUs, i think).

i just can tell my experience with Zotac GTX 1070 mini. Have 2 of them and they survived the last summer in a closed case constantly running with 70% TDP and running @70C for 4-5 Month. Now i let them run with 65% TDP and 60-65 degrees.
But after summer ended they started "leaking" and with leaking i mean the memory pads started giving some kind of a slippery fluid...no comment on that. thats why i keep them running on a lower TDP.
i also want to buy 1080 TI MINI but somehow the cooling stops me. if 1070 was already running that hot, what will happen to 1080Ti in the upcoming summer. I can get them for 700€ per piece.
I will probably buy 1 and test it before i proceed with further build. it will be my first 1080Ti.
Only things which promote me to buy them is that they are from amazon and 5 Year Warranty from Zotac.

Sometimes, particularly with the Zotac minis, they aren't priced all that competitively, either.

Since my power costs are rather low, my settings are largely optimized for performance, albeit without making sacrifices to stability. The MSI card runs at about 260W, the Zotac at about 230W. (Although EWBF probably only returns ballpark power readings.)

EBWF seems to return "instantaneous" power readings, like nvidia-smi but not always on the same timing.

 You learn to compensate for that with a bit of practice.
