The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

What's the fee rate used?

The network has been busy today... it has spiked from less than 10K unconfirmed to around 30K unconfirmed... and as a result the fees have increased a little... this will mean that low fee transactions might be delayed more than normal. Undecided

It's actually way lower than the normal.

According to users in the NiceHash thread[1], they are sending transactions with a 6 sat/byte fee. And people are complaining that they need to wait for more than 48 hours to get the transaction confirmed by the network.

About the network, I really noticed that transactions are starting to take a little bit more to get confirmed than those last few days when we got less transactions because of the imminent BCC fork. Last week I could send transactions with a 40 sat/byte fee and get my tx confirmed in 1-2 hours. Today I sent some BTC to Bittrex and it took 4 hours with a 87 sat/byte fee. That's really sad.

If you post the txid, we can have a look...
Alternative, you can use my tool to check the fee yourself: https://www.mocacinno.com/page/feechecker

Apparently the slow confirmations of the last payment from Nice Hash affected everybody, not just me.  Nice Hash actually had to make a statement about it.

The network seems to very busy and slow today. Don't have payments from Nice Hash but from some other source and I'm also waiting long for the confimations. It's also the same with transactions I'm sending from my wallet and I used usual recommended fee. Hope we will not face the same issues again.

NiceHash is doing it again, payment sent 9 hours ago, zero confirmations and low priority.  I notice that the mempool size has doubled today, that's not helping.

Meanwhile Bitcoin is down 9% while waiting.  Thanks NiceHash!

Thanks for the link, that's pretty handy.

Is there any site that tells you what the rough expected confirmation time is based on sats/byte fees?

This one is pretty good: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/
I like this one as well: https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

The 2nd gives a really good indication of "where" in the fee stack all the of transactions are sitting... by looking at the number of bytes on the right, you can get an idea of how many blocks of data are at/above any given fee value.

You need need to gauge the network activity, and how many transactions are likely to be added in before the next block is found etc.

Then there is this "rainbow": https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#

Lot's of data, once you figure out what the charts are actually telling you! Wink

Awesome links, thank you very much!

My transaction is at 128 sats/byte so if I read the chart correctly the estimated time is between 55 and 1440 minutes.  Quite a range lol. I'll be curious to see what it ends up being.
