10 more rep thread creators added to my iggy box. This is absolutely insane. What I am noticing, When I go to ignore the OP of a rep thread in off topic, who ever replies in these are already ignored from creating a rep thread. I see a pattern here.
Traders who use reputation threads... use reputation threads?

I feel the same as you do with the rep threads, do not really want to encourage them, but that was a lot moved out of off topic.
It's one of those things, [what can ya do?].

Least we have an option to ignore reputation thread, rather ignoring the users.

Thanks, theymos.

they are annoying, but there is obviously some demand for something there....

Is there a forum plugin that could be installed for "feedback" or karma type thing...

trade with person, click a + or a -
hide it away on the profile, so if you really want to see it, you can..

just an idea

That is a good idea, many forums which support trading incorporate that - more like +ve and -ve trade count, with specific comment option - but the downside is, it is easier to cheat unless the actual trade thread is validated. Almost all precious metal trading forums have this.

Karma counter is a bad idea, and I have seen that abused more than anything else.

We're not a trading forum, is the thing. Not really. For trading, there's Bitcoin-otc.

I think I got most of them, in off topic at least, there may be more scattered around.

Yeah.

I mean it just screams "don't mind me, i'm just setting up my next scam!" to begin with. I bet 90% of those posting are just scammers.

Don't get me wrong, there are users who aren't scammers and only use it to show they have done past trades. But, it's getting out of hand, and a thread saying how good the OP is doesn't mean anything. The OP could of just paid them to say it, maybe they lose out that way. But, think of it, when they actually do scam. It more than makes up for it.

Yeah, after each transaction they ask if their trading partner would write something good about them, but IF the trading partner is actually satisfied with the trade, they would actually leave good feedback themselves.
Instead they feel the need to make a reputation thread, which in my opinion is not needed.

I use it and like it when potential trading partners have one. When I see names of people in a rep thread that I know and trust, I know my potential partner has a good history and is less likely to throw that away for a few quick scams.

If they don't have a thread like that you have to wade through a jungle of old threads, saves time.

But now that there's a rep thread area of the forums you dont have to be annoyed by it anymore Smiley

EDIT What seriously ? You ignore people with rep threads ? Oh well I guess you can't read this then. The problem with ignoring someone is that their threads still show up so it does nothing to releive your annoyance.

The notion that people with rep threads sockpuppit eachother is rediculous, most of us have a lot to lose. Finding good trading partners for altcoins is not easy you know.

it's a good way to keep track of each user's past trading activities. much better than having a .txt file that you paste into every selling/buying post you make.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

There shouldn't really be a need for rep threads anymore.
