Hi

It seems there is a big problem :

I created a new wallet in Armory.

I asked only once to display a receiving address and I sent BTC to this address.

On Blockchain explorer, my BTC are shown on this receiving address.

I make a backup of this wallet : "Export keys list"

I checked "Address string" and "Private key plain base58" and "Omit spaces in key data"

Armory displays me :
-date of creation of wallet
-wallet ID
-wallet name
(space)
-only one receiving address, same as I saw above, and where I sent my BTC
-only one PrivBase58: 5.................................................

BUT

when I go on https://www.bitaddress.org , tab Wallet details, when I enter my private PrivBase58 key and hit See details button, the system show me an other receiving address (empty), not the address containing my BTC !

Where is the problem, please ?

Very strange.

I have 4 wallets in Armory.

I made backup for each, by exporting keys list, as in previous post.

For these 4 wallets, I have 9 pairs of Address strings + Private key plain base58

On https://www.bitaddress.org , when I enter the private keys and ask Details, 2 of the 9 give me the correct addresses.

What is this problem ?

I really need the private key of my previous post wallet to produce the correct address, because I can't access the new Bitcoin Cash BCH, as the private key generates an other empty address instead of the good one...

When you are looking on bitaddress.org (I hope you're using an offline copy of this BTW)...

After you enter your private key, are you looking at the "compressed" or "uncompressed" keys? The private key will generate two different public addresses... compressed and uncompressed. Given that your private key starts with a 5... this is an "older" uncompressed private key, so make sure you're looking at the "uncompressed" address (should be the one on the left side of the page)

If your private key starts with a L and K, it is compressed and will line up with address on the right side of the page.

Hi

Yes of course, after opening bitaddress.org page, I remove my ethernet from back of my computer, I exit the page and then I plug in the ethernet.

Yes it seems Armony only generated me old "5....." uncompressed private key for each of the address included in wallets.

Yes I checked carefully each of the 2 addresses, compressed and uncompressed, given by bitaddress.org for each of my 9 private keys saved from Armory, and only 2 of them gave the correct addresses linked to the "5....." private keys wallets backups...

This is a serious issue, right ?

And I really need the private key of a wallet backup to give me back the correct address, because, now, because of that problem, I can't have access to my Bitcoin Cash BCH balance, waiting for me at this address  (I checked, they are there, with no Tx out, the BCH balance is the same as my BTC balance before the fork for this address).

HEEEELLLPPP :-)

I could even send 0.1 BTC to the person that helps me correct the problem and allow withdrawing of my BCH.

Thank you.

Additional findings :

on the 9 pairs "Address strings + Private key plain base58", the 7 that give me back incorrect addresses after using privkey are pairs where original addresses start with "3..." in the pair, and the 2 privkeys that give me back correct addresses are the original pairs where the addresses started with a "1..." in the pair

A user here, kindly helping me, told me about the problematic address :

"This address is a multisig address and should have at least 2 private keys, not 1. How did you generate this address ?"

I never asked for a mutlisig address when I created the wallet in Armory, and never asked for a multisig receinving address when asking the Armory wallet to generate me a BTC receiving address...

And when I export privkey, only 1 privkey shows, not 2, as it should be in case of multisig address...

I don't understand.

Ahhhh ok... a "3" address... Armory supports both P2PKH and P2SH-P2PK addresses inside the same wallet... P2SH-P2PK addresses start with a 3...

I believe the only solution is to use the new BCH "signer" module that goatpig made to create a BCH transaction to get your BCH coins out... as per the sticky here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2070058.0 as I am not aware of any method of recreating these addresses outside of Armory.

You will need an updated Armory with the BCH "signer", BitcoinABC (or at least a copy of the BCH blockchain)... and you'll want to be super careful not to mess up your Bitcoin Core install and blocks folder... as Bitcoin ABC (by default) installs to the Bitcoin Core locations Undecided
