When someone is funding ads like this it is obvious their BTC holdings are threatened by a superior protocol.

There were also ads saying BFL was a scam.
I don't know about you, but I sure am glad I didn't invest in that, either.

It's all competitors spreading disinformation. Butterfly Lab's competitors wanted the company to fail so they discouraged preorders and slandered and libeled its founder. Make no mistake, these anti-Ripple announcements and posts are paid for by people who are heavily invested in Bitcoin and the Bitcoin protocol. The transformation of Ripple was influenced and foretold by Satoshi himself. The protocol rocks - it was built in 2004 before Bitcoin.

No, no, it was community members who started that ad campaign, because they were so pissed off about what BFL was doing--you follow BFL's shenanigans, right? Avalon was unaffiliated with that. Normally I would agree, yes, advertisements such as these are made to make another business look better, but this isn't one of those cases. From what I've gathered out of Ripple, they're not following up on the promises made, which are outlined in the website provided there. If you believe Ripple is the superior alternative, give them a shot; I've yet to make use of Ripple myself, but, that's just me. This disinformation and tactics goes against everything Satoshi and Bitcoin stands for - freedom, truth, and progress.
As I said, read the website and verify what they're saying; they're either right, or they're wrong. Don't just assume it's a FUD campaign.

Ripple advocates like yourself are so misinformed its kinda sad. The ripple protocol was around before Bitcoin. But the current ripple implementation with the XRP currency/commodity as the central focus was not. After Bitcoin came out they took the crypto-currency idea and merged it into ripple and the result is the new ripple we have now. Make no mistake. The new ripple is all about XRP and they will fund themselves and the VC investors by selling off XRP. The XRP will always be worth a lot because they only release XRP little by little into the ecosystem making the supply artificially limited so they can milk it for as much Bitcoin as possible. If they sold all the XRP right now at the rate its going at, they could buy every single Bitcoin. Thats how much its worth. Ask yourself is it really worth that much? Also, why on earth are so many people on this forum protecting a private US corporation and preferring it over the decentralised nation-less Bitcoin? This I do not understand.

I trust Jed McCaleb's and David Swartz's word which they reiterated on the forums the past few days just like I trust Josh Zerlan's word who was never given a chance. The Bitcoin community is planning to viscously fork the Ripple protocol which would prevent Jed and David from implementing the features and updates the protocol needs as it evolves and deny the organization required for its marketing and prosperity funding. That is wrong. Satoshi and the creators of Bitcoin had early access to mining and were able to fund themselves and the Bitcoin Foundation. Ripple is not dishonest - the organization is fighting against dishonesty.

They honestly never dealt with a system that was not owned by a corporation or government. A lot of people are only now starting to understand what decentralized means. I think before the DHS seizure (and BTC simply going on as normal) many had the idea that BTC was centered at Mtgox, in the same way as XRP is centered at Opencoin.

LOL Datz.
I trust Jed McCaleb's and David Swartz's word which they reiterated on the forums the past few days just like I trust Josh Zerlan's word who was never given a chance.
LOL, look at BFL shipping dates
The Bitcoin community is planning to viscously fork the Ripple protocol which would prevent Jed and David from implementing the features and updates the protocol needs as it evolves and deny the organization required for its marketing and prosperity funding.
Duh, I'd support fair and open development. Anyone in the world should be able to contribute to Ripple, with reviewing being done by a community approved core team.
That is wrong. Satoshi and the creators of Bitcoin had early access to mining and were able to fund themselves and the Bitcoin Foundation.
The bitcoin foundation is completely unrelated to Satoshi for starters, and Satoshi did not have early access to mining. He timestamped an news article proving it.
Ripple is not dishonest - the organization is fighting against dishonesty.
Ripple / OpenCoin Inc is the one being dishonest, for the aim of making money. The bitcoin core developers did it in their hobby time because they care about bitcoin - not solely for profit.
Either way, I'm not sure if you are trolling or not, but you've being ignored.

Ripple has served an extremely useful purpose. It has allowed everyone to learn that Peter Thiel is a MUCH smarter investor than Google Ventures.

I'm probably being ignored because I am honest and am actually making money by investing in the right projects on the path to human survival. I have never been wrong and have profited immensely. The reason why my opinion matters is that I never get caught up in anything, I never invest my soul in a given protocol, or in a specific period of entropy. I move on. I examine reality at all times and I live in reality. Metaphysically and financially I own many projects and many people because I see reality and I can extrapolate any event today into an economically efficient and progressive outcome tomorrow. Go ahead and ignore me. You will shame yourself and shame humanity. You will ruin your reputation because you have no vision, have no ability to extrapolate patterns today into profitable outcomes. You are too definite and only live in the moment. You can think logically, but miss the point, miss the heart of the matter, the driving forces, the interactions and variables which produce a given outcome. Look deeply and you will realize I am right. Even if Ripple fails because of your lingering investment in mining, in Bitcoin, in a marketing scheme which produces inefficiency - Ripple is right and you are wrong. The Universe will remember that and it will adjust for that.

I have never been wrong Thanks for reminding me that I actually need to ignore you. I'll tell you 1 thing: I can single handedly kill the Ripple's trust system in it's current state. People who use Ripple will lose money, even if they have not done anything. I'm not doing it right now, because people will lose money, and it would cost me a substantial amount, but would be cheaper than what works out to be $160,000 a year of forum advertising. OpenCoin Inc should take the hint and stop trying to lure in users of real decentralized money. The "mislead bitcoin users into thinking we're open source and decentralized, sell our premined ripples to fund development" strategy doesn't work when not all bitcoin users are retards.
