Lite coin mining help

Hi all,

I have just downloaded the Lite Coin Qt.

1) It shows that i am out of sync...Although i was synchronising suddently it does not anymore

2) My hash rate per second is zero.

Please help... any suggestions? I am new in cryptocurrencies and my IT knowledge is limited. Maybe it is because i use a laptop? 5 year old... Do i need another PC in order to mine litecoins?

Any help will be greattly appreciated
