The coin I made for muddafudda was basically a "for fun" coin, you can see the specs for it on page 1. Hence the fast turnaround time.
Nice. Pmed you.

I've had a few people PM me about this, so here we are. Perhaps you have no idea how to program, but want to create a coin. Maybe you want a fun coin to use amongst your friends, or you think of it as a get rich quick scheme? Now you can live the dream! For a reasonable fee I will design, create, and compile your own custom altcoin according to whatever specifications you provide. After that, you are free to do whatever you like with it. Provide your own graphics, or I'll design them for you for an extra fee. No one has to know that I made your coin, but positive feedback in this thread would be great Development will start immediately after payment, and a final product (source + windows binary) will be delivered within 72 hours. PM me for pricing and availability. If you require a website, I suggest using hostgator with promo code ITSJUSTAPENNY to get a month of webhosting for 1 cent. What's the feasibility of "whocoin" basically think namecoin but with the ability to publish public keys to be used in encrypted mail? As a corrallary "httpscoin" a way to publish ssl certificates without a central repository? Would these be in scope or out of scope?

I could quote you a price for such a project but I'd imagine you wouldn't want to spend that much. That's a lot of work involved.

Can you set the block chain to download from the middle? Gets the latest block and builds forwards and backwards at the same time?

That doesn't accomplish anything since your download speed remains the same anyway. Downloading blocks isn't what takes a long time. Verifying them is what takes forever.

So if I was to be a customer and wanted something you would just say it's wrong? hmmm It means I can mine as soon as I open the wallet. Old blocks are likely less relevant and should be de-prioritised over new ones. As verification takes long old blocks are most likely verified already by somebody else and errors whatever corrected, so they are less important to me. These thing I care about and you want my money, maybe you could actually sell this product to me as I'm sure competition exists. I really shouldn't have to explain why I want something, just implement it and get paid...if not possible that's fine to.

Such a method would work if EVERY node on the network was honest and there was never a forking issue. This method of getting blocks just opens new vectors of attack. Unless you download and verify every block sequentially, there is no way to verify that a block from the ''middle of the chain'' even came from the real block chain.

A+ plus work on my coin. Hazard has my permission to publish it as an example. It is called tulips and is named for its wonderful beauty and has nothing to do with tulip mania.

perhaps, somewhere, there is the someone. He or she knows satoshi's algorithms, they know currencies and markets inside out. Maybe they've never heard of a distro, and will save us all using Hazard's altcoin creation service.
