...

I have used only three such machines over the past few years (one each in NYC, Vancouver, and just today in Copenhagen).

The one in NYC likely now does not work that way anymore (US laws, and it was a few years ago when I used it).

Vancouver's machine supposedly was the first BTC ATM to go online.  I used it about a year ago.

And Copenhagen's does not require ID either.  Located in the "The Dubliner" (an Irish pub) in the pedestrian zone of downtown Copenhagen.  Very easy to use, took just seconds, most of that time was loading Danish Kroner into it...

*   *   *

Please list any machines (location and approx. date) that you have USED recently which require no ID (no phone number etc.).  I think many people would be interested.

OROBTC, The Globe trotter traveling around the world to use Bitcoin ATM machines  Cheesy
Just joking.

There are only 2 machines in my country and very very far from me. I would need to drive maybe 6 hours up to them.
In your post, there is something confusing to me. Are there any ATM machines that require ID ?

In the USA almost all (or maybe even ALL now) do require ID.  Now that I have registered with two in the USA, my cell number is good enough, but they still have the info that I bought.

London, I discovered today, has at least one BTM that does not require ID (in quantities less than 500 British Pounds).

10% premium over "spot".

Located at the Old Street Underground station ("Tube").

Requiring an ID is just too much. It will defeat the reason to use Bitcoin in the first place. Why do they need an ID anyway ?
They just want to keep tabs on you. I can imagine USA goes crazy with this stuff.

Yes, I agree, asking for an ID seems against the spirit of bitcoin.

Saving this thread, thanks for starting it, OP.

Asking an ID, should cause no trouble unless someone do illegal actions. However, I'd like to stay private if I'm using BTC.

Plus if ID is not required, you can always break transactions to avoid the GBP 500 cap. I presume you can only buy bitcoins and not sell bitcoins at this machine?

It should be that way I think because if they can track you down with your ID informations in buying or getting bitcoin with Bitcoin ATM machines then they will know who is behind with a specific bitcoin address and we all know that when someone knows who is the owner or user of a bitcoin address they can now easily track the IN/OUT transactions of it in blockchain so it must required no ID.

BIG WINNER!

I was not aware you needed to provide ID to purchase/sell Bitcoin at ATMs. That is kind of over-the-top as far as I am concerned. If we don't need ID at regular fiat ATMs, why should we need it at BTC ATMs?

I wish they had some atm machines like that i Belgium. To my knowledge there isn't any in the area.

But i did see pictures from other country's in europe that started to deploy them in different locations.

It's only it it's footmarks. Wait and see in a few years how this digital age will transform the use of such technology in common life.

Glad im a part of this generation and movement !

I wish too, but I don't understand why they ask for ID for bitcoin machine usage. They try to perform somehow AML/KYC procedures or what? Bitcoin is anonymus and it's meaningless once we give our IDs to the system. I use this link to find them near me: https://coinatmradar.com/

I don't know!  I did not have all that much cash on me in either place.  The one in London ASKED me if the amount was above 500 GBP or less than 500.  I presume the machine would ask for more info for a BIG transaction.

The one in Vancouver was well over a year ago (maybe two?), I would have to check.  But, my *guess* would be that U Sam influences financial laws in Canada, so...  The one in Vancouver is at a coffee shop pretty close to the heart of the city.

I used the one in Vancouver as well (end of 2015). It didn't require ID up to $2000, but I think you did have to input some information if you wanted more. Of course, you could just do a bunch of $2k transactions and never need to do that. The machine doesn't really have a lot of cash in it to begin with (usually always under 50k) so you would empty it pretty quickly by doing that.

There are actually 2 (I believe even more) atms in Belgium right now. They're both an hour drive away from me so I haven't really been there yet. Do some research perhaps there's one in your area.
