I love waking up everyday to new all-time highs, but this euphoria is getting pretty tangible. I'm seeing lots of these threads. The last couple posted today predicted a 50 trillion dollar market cap within a year, and prices of up to $60,000. And you are saying that buying anything under $18,000 will make us look like geniuses, so that means you expect much, much higher prices than that.

Maybe the time for a nice, fat correction is coming soon.

I think a correction is due soon. These prices seem to be a pump by whales. If so, they will be dumping soon. I still think bitcoin is going to keep going up in price overall, but this seems too quick

There's a bit more to the story. There may be somewhat of an exodus happening from unregulated exchanges after what happened to BTC-e -- especially from Bitfinex, who just said they will soon be prohibiting US customers. The only way out of the exchange is in coins, since they have no fiat banking anymore. Since they lost banking in March or April, the supply of Tether has increased by more than 6x, which is also very suspicious.

It should be said that Bitflyer (Japan) leads as often as Bitfinex does. But they also have no trading fees, last I heard (similar to Chinese exchanges until recently), which can allow for some manipulation as well.

i believe bitfinex started this after the rise has happened for a while. so it shouldn't have to do anything with their new rules regarding US citizens.

the difference between Japanese exchanges and Chinese ones is that the Chinese never regulated either bitcoin or the exchanges. but Japanese have already regulated bitcoin and i believe the exchanges are also under regulation rules.
this means there is no room for any kind of manipulation.
the zero fees makes trading easier and that makes the volume go higher. simple as that.

I bought bitcoin under $2000. And i was a genius.  but this make the people curious about when is the segwit will be released? that was the main point. looks we are in the correction right now and the bitcoin will be decrease again.

I think that below $18,000 price for bitcoin is too much and i can say that only below $5,000 can be happy soon because we are getting closer and closer to that price and if you will buy below from that price and hold it for long term then you can still earn a lot of money from that investment. Just keep buying bitcoin and don't forget to hold it for long term.

I bought bitcoin under $2000. And i was a genius.  but this make the people curious about when is the segwit will be released? that was the main point. looks we are in the correction right now and the bitcoin will be decrease again.

And then to grow. It seems to me that these whales have a lot of bitcoins and they use it to manipulate prices in the market. We will never be able to guess where the price will go up and when down. Every time the whales will increase the number of their coins.

These two figures doesn't match. To attain a market cap of $50 trillion, the Bitcoin price must rise to somewhere around $3 million per coin. And I don't think that it is a target which can be achieved. You are hoping for a 1,000x increase in the exchange rates. And a market cap of $50 trillion would mean that one-sixth of all the global wealth will be in the form of Bitcoin.

Just because you bought and then the price went up doesn't mean you made a smart decision.  It means there were people who made even worse decisions than you.  A good decision would be to buy when the price was actually low, like in mid 2015.

Just because you bought and then the price went up doesn't mean you made a smart decision.  It means there were people who made even worse decisions than you.  A good decision would be to buy when the price was actually low, like in mid 2015.

No, not really in fact. Just if you buy at any price before the actual peak will be reached in a few years is a good decision, because some people might be trying, just like you are probably doing unvoluntarily, to make them do not buy, and that is a clever attribute to go against what other are saying.

There is a topic for every combination of "Did you buy bitcoin when it was xx.xxx than you are millionaire". If you looking at unread threads as often as I do you will see all speculations and one of them will become true eventualy .What suprises me more there is a unspokable rule for this threads. You can't state any valuable argument or logic behind your speculation.You just have to say it will reach this amount and people will argue about it no mather what.It's actualy quite fun the read all of them .

Real genius are those who bought bitcoin by the price under 200$. I joined bitcoin just in that moment when the price was 200-300$ per BTC, but besides that fact that I hadn't money to invest at all, this sum seemed for me too high for such project as Bitcoin. Normally now I regret I didn't bought couple of coins, but what to do? We all learn during the time and the experience.

But the genius would be the person who will not sell his BTC even after the price of bitcoin goes up very high. The genius would be the one supporting the pump and not letting it down by selling the bitcoin for fiat.

Hope to see lots of geniuses supporting this all new pump. Bitcoin has always risen my adrenaline whenever I see the rise in price and notifications all around me. Hope to see this excitement goes up all the way to moon as we always thought.

well genius is a very subjective word but if bitcoins price rose so high in the near future and at the same time you kept all your bitcoins then you might look like one to some

average people--the ones who are not fairly knowledgeable on this field but for those who are, you will not look one because making a wise decision doesn't make you one.

OK... Let's analyze it. Has the 1st prediction come true? Yes. What about the second one? That one also have been realized. And the third one... those guys are sitting on top of 40% ROI as of now. So in short, I don't care whether it is without logic or not. BTC has given insane returns till now, and let's hope that this will continue for the future as well.

OK... Let's analyze it.

Let's analyse it 2013 edition.

"If you buy under $100 you will look like a genius!" - happened.
"If you buy under $500 you will look like a genius!" - happened.
"If you buy under $1000 you will look like genius!" - happened.
"If you buy under $2000 you will look like a genius!" CRASH.

The thing is that every time there's a price increase, people start expecting the price to go higher.  People set arbitrary limits at which they will sell but in reality they just set these higher and higher until they get so greedy that they lose money.

You just have to look at it logically.  The price has gone up very dramatically already.  In BTC's current state, if the price continues to rise it will be completely illogical, so it would make sense not to keep buying.  Sure, the price could go higher, but it shouldn't do so and it can't do so forever. 

If you buy, you have to understand that there are huge risks involved at this point and that you should be prepared to hold for a very long time.
