Looks like you're going too fast then. You can easily lose your cryptocurrencies if you don't know what you're doing. Always make sure to learn about something and do some research before going in head first, especially in cryptocurrencies since you are YOUR OWN BANK. What does that mean? if you lose your cryptocurrencies, let that be via hack, via sending to a wrong address, via losing your private keys, there's no way to get it back. There will be no bitcoin or ethereum hotline to help you.

Exodus desktop wallet is very good with password protection and seed. It handles
some other top coins like BTC, LTC too.

Myetherwallet.com is browser-based and very good to manage ETH and also the ETH
ERC-20 tokens. There is no other wallet that  manages the ever-growing number of
ETH ERC-20 tokens.

I use myetherwallet.com, I think myetherwallet is enough to meet security standards and they also have a unique way to strengthen their security.

No other ether wallet than Myetherwallet.
No issues so far and you hold your private keys here and you can choose which you want to use for logging in. Just be careful as phishing sites are everywhere.

May I ask - why Desktop and not mobile? Usually desktop is pretty insecure

How can you tell that Desktop wallet is not secure and mobile wallet is secure. because as much i know mobile wallet is more insecure then desktop wallet because if you lose your mobile wallet like mobile getting broken or anything damage then you cannot recover it. But in desktop wallet their are so many ways to secure your account.

I am using myetherwallet and really very satisfied as they give private keys so that we can in control of our account and can access in any ETH wallet.

Everybody's choice would be myetherwallet.com it's very easy to use and you can have access with your wallet anytime. And don't ever use to stock your your ETH from an exchange it's always a risky thing because they can collapse any time or they can be hacked. We may not know because of the rising of crypto's anything can happen.

I trust myEtherwallet because it has private key that you can access it anytime with private key. It will secure your tokens and bitcoin, it is also safe. It is also a multiwallet which means you can store more than one coins. You can also use waveswallet.io, it will generate your seed and it is also safe and secured.

Yes. Better to bookmarked the MEW URL just to be sure.
And in the end of the day our wallets is all our liabilities so no one can blame if we get hack.
I love using MEW and been using it since I started here and I dont have any problems using this.
I just make sure that I save my private keys and wrote it on paper like what Im doing in my seeds so I have a better back up when things goes wrong.

If you insist on a desktop wallet give a try to Jaxx.io. I know it's a multicurrency wallet and may sound insecure to have all eggs in one basket, but in anyways you will own the private keys and you can move to another wallet whenever you want...

I suggest you to use ethereum wallet . You can go to the myetherwallet.com site and create your wallet for ethereum . It is accessible not only in password , it has also a private key to access the account you create. Also there is a wavewallet.io , they are also using ethereum and you can use it as an ethereum wallet also.
