The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

That's the plan.

We're on track to include business, technology, and bitcoins.

I think you should include a couple people on the legal/regulation/political side as well.

Anyhow I am based in Sweden at the moment for my MS, if you need help for... project management, talking to people, sales/marketing/bizdev  Grin

I would also suggest getting in touch with the Bitcoin Foundation. Even if they don't host the event as they did in San Jose, they might be willing to provide some sort of logistical/planning support.

Hey Maaku,

Although the Bitcoin Foundation's combined assets far exceed our own, our concept for this particular hybrid market/tradeshow/conference needs considerable creative license and we are skeptical about involving any organizations of any kind at the organization and funding level, and equally squimish of political connotations.

Nevertheless, anyone and everyone can be involved who feels compelled to support this non-profit movement. We're still in our early stages, so any support is appreciated. Send me a message if you feel like you want to get involved. We have pretty spreadsheets and if you're in Amsterdam, I'll buy you a coffee. Promise.

Great initiative. I'll second the motion for a setup (in regards to the subjects covered) like the conference in San Jose.

I wanted to gauge the price that people would be willing to pay to attend the conference:

I'm trying to make this conference as transparent as possible (while still making it economically sound for the team), so I wanted to pitch the question to you guys:

The one in San Jose was 2.5BTC or $250 if I recall correctly. Understandably, your budget would be dependant on the calibre of speakers. Assuming they were prominent and could add some value to you, would you be willing to pay this amount or should it be higher/lower?

M
To give one answer to this question: I expect this conference to be on a smaller scale than the one in San Jose, which means it would also be a lower price.
Note that the San Jose conference also had a lot of sponsoring going on, so if you don't manage to get some of that, I think you'll run into trouble collecting enough funds.

Good luck organising it! I'll be attending if you manage to pull it off!

There will be quite a big one in Vienna 1-3 November.

The unSYSTEM meeting is very different in scope and purpose from the business-oriented Bitcoin 2013 conference in San Jose. Hence this thread.
