How to underclock RAM in any card to any value by Linc0ln

1.Download underclock.zip and unpack it.

Code:
http://speedy.sh/28pRY/Underclock.zip

2.Install MsiAfterburn from folder downloaded folder.

3.Copy MSIAfterburner.cfg from folder downloaded before to You MsiAfterburn location that you install in step 2 and replace original file, then run MSIAB (restart rig if MSIAB as you) check "Apply overclocking at system startup go to setting, check all in "Compatibility propiets" and change from "User mode" to "kernel mode". Click, OK and close MSIAfterburn.

4.Copy Profile folder from MSIAfterburn where you have it installed to any location easily for you (example: desktop).

5.Go to you copy of Profile folder and open each file with very large name ex. VEN_1002&DEV_679A&SUBSYS_E210174B&REV_00&BUS_1&DEV_0&FN_0.cfg with notepad one by one and replace old content with content from copyfromhere.txt. Instructions.txt contain info how to change it for you card.

6.Replace original Profile folder from MSIAfterburn where you have it installed with folder that contain modified files form step 5.

7.Change permssions of all files one by one from folder Profiles replaced in step 6, included MSIAfterburner.cfg and all modified files- (Where you have MsiAB installed, not copy on deskop)
   a) Click Propiets then security > advanced > Change permissions
   b) Uncheck "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" and click OK.
   c) Go back to Security and edit all permisions for User, Admin, System, etc. Uncheck all except Read & execute and Read(Both checked on Allow), on Deny all unchecked. Click, OK.
Do it for all files one by one

8.Do the same for Profiles folder.(Check List folder contents in step C)

Now reboot you rig and be happy!!!

I suposed that you know best oc for you card after this MSIAB will not remember you changesin voltage or clock after rebot it always will back toe setting that you put in STEP 5. You always can change it in files from STEP 5, but you need to allow all permisses for User in Folder Profiles. Do changes in you copy on deskop then copy it to original folder and don´t forgot chenge permisions when is done.

I already knew how to underclock RAM, but it was already a tedious process. I thought "what the hell" and went through your little readme. It actually works for the purpose of applying clocks and volts on startup. Now I don't have to open AB every time and set volts and memory when I reboot.

Thanks - works great after finally reading thoroughly enough! To anyone else who may skim the instructions, setting your MemClk value in the Defaults section to double the desired target memory clock is the key part of this working on startup. If you don't do that it loads the default clocks for memory on startup.

This isn't a trojan wallet stealer? Crazy.

Query, how much difference in power is there running ram at full clocks and at say, 300Mhz?

You don't need to install his EXE. It's just the MSI Afterburner EXE bundled in. IMO this would be a more legitimate seeming walkthrough without the EXE file included. I didn't install the EXE and the rest of the steps worked fine with the stock MSI AB install.

Unfortunately I didn't note the exact wattage before I started OC'ing and with this workaround in place it makes it difficult to switch back to stock speeds without messing with the profile files again.

However my system with 2 GPU's right now is drawing 585 Watts (thats including a table fan as well) and before it was definitely over 600.

Exactly, you can download MSIAB from anywhere, I include it for serious nubs.

I have my 4 x 7950 runnig at 780watts@2413Mh/s measured with kill-a-watt at the wall

It seems to be legit. The only executable is digitally signed and the rest are configuration files.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I've tried using this, and I can't get it to go past 710 for the memory.

In the msiafterburner.cfg file I have this:

[ATIADLHAL]
EnableUnofficialOverclocking   = 1
UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2
UnofficialOverclockingDrvReset   = 1
AccessibilityCheckingPeriod   = 0
UnifiedMemoryUsageMonitoring   = 1

And I can't get it to go any lower. Do I have something set wrong?

Is there any chance someone can mirror this on another host? Speedyshare is telling me that I need a premium account to download the file.
