Hi all

I mining successfully with my 6850. I tried adding my 5850 in but cgminer crashes when mining litecoins.
I can min bit coins ok.
Taking my 6850 out and running only the 5850 and cgminer still crashes.
I've got the 13.4 catalyst drivers installed.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Do you have the latest version of cgminer installed?
Also you should post your cgminer.conf and search google for "github litecoin mining hardware comparsion" for good values for that card. (Cant post links as newbie)

I'm using 3.0.1 and 3.0.0 and a couple versions of 2.
I've not modded my config file I'm just passing params on the command line.
I'm also running windows 7 x64

Try cgminer 3.1.1

Check
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=117221.0
&
https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/wiki/Mining-hardware-comparison

WINDOWS: Open console and type

Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

Did this already?

13.4 are bugged. Install 13.5 beta, or oldest 13.1/13.3 beta.

Thank you both. I'll try 3.1.1 and if it fails ill try the 13.5 beta drivers.
Do I have to uninstall the other drivers before putting on the beta ones.

ok just tried 3.1.1 and it's running but CGMiner displays a hardware error on the 5850 card and display invalid nonce.
i've put the 13.5 drivers on and it made no difference

i've set the intensity to 11 and that seems to work i can up it to 12 but no more than that.
My 6850 could run at 18 ok

My 5850 gets me 255kh/s and my 6850 gets me 127kh/s

I was getting 215kh/s out of my 6850 on it's own.

any way to set individual settings for the intensity?

Just add --intensity 18,12
Same thing with all the other values if you have more then one card you have to put in different values for each card especially when you got different versions.

Thank you.

That's work a treat. Now just need to try and increase the 5850 to above 250kh/s may have to play with core MHz and see if anything's been messed with it.

Looking at CPU z it looks like the 5850 is using hardly any ram compared to my 6850
I thought scrypt was memory intensive

an asic would be great but there's such a long waiting list it's not going to be worth it.
If you know of a good place to get one i would.
Mining litecoins is more profitable for me.

From my experience, 12.8 is best for scrypt mining.

5850 should be running at least 350khash/s
I got the same card and running with these parameters: thread_concurrency 5824 -I 19 -worksize 256, and I'm getting 400khash/s (overclocked)

That was my thinking, I thought this card could do a lot better.
If i put the intensity above 12 it just gets a hardware error.

I'm thinking about removing the 13.5 drivers and putting on the 12.8 drivers
Is it as simple as uninstalling the 13.5 drivers re-booting and then putting on the 12.8 drivers.

I've seen a lot of issues re-installing the drivers.
Afterburner only allows me to clock this GPU to 775 MHz It's running at 765MHz with a mem clock of 1050 MHz

I'll give your settings a go

It's only running at 62 C Adding this has made my 6850 go up a couple of degrees though but I expected that when it sits above the 5850

Make sure you use Catalyst Un-install Utility to remove all stuff.
Good luck!

Tried it without the installer and it messed up. Now trying the uninstall utility but my screens are no longer working. Time to reboot.
And try a reinstall of the 12.8 drivers

My screen is back now at a resolution of 640 x 400.  Hmm nice

After installing the 12.8 drivers do I need to install anything else to get the open cl working?
