I really want to start building my investment portfolio as soon as possible. I've tried verifying my identity on websites such as coinbase and polo but they seem to be taking a ton of time. It's been close to a month and nothing on both. All that wasted time is resulting in losses of potentially significant profits for me.
Which exchanges can i buy alt coins and bitcoins where verification of identity doesnt take weeks? Or if i get btc from localbitcoins.com then where can i signup and buy alt coins quickly without losing 30% on commissions.

If you already have BTC, you can exchange them for altcoins on sites like poloniex and bittrex.

The thing is i dont have btc.. i want to purchase them via bank transfer through local bitcoins but i dont want my bank account to be blocked because of suspicious activity (i.e transferring large sums of money to strangers) Also, do those websites allow u to buy alts using quick verification?

I think that both sites allow you to trade with only registration with an emailadress and password. Of cource they both have limits for what you can trade without verification. You can try to take cash from an ATM, and trade on localbitcoins.

Not sure what country OP is in, but try wiring money in to GDAX. If you have a Coinbase account, you have an account on GDAX.
Coinbase (who owns GDAX) is too painful and slow to increase available money from bank accounts and credit cards. Wires are fast, but they do have a fee.

Why is CoinBase taking more than a month? You should fix that because investing one time isn't very useful, you'll want to invest more in the future. Anyway, the various policies of online services depends on the country but there are many that work internationally.

After you have BTC. I like novaexchange.com and cryptopia.co.nz for trading alt coins, they also have low fees. I would stay away from Poloniex, as they don't answer tickets.

I also was in a similar boat recently, saw the large BTC rise for weeks and tried desperately to get verified somewhere to deposit but couldn't. The first exchange that ended up accepting me was Coinbase. Ran into many issues with localbitcoins.

You can do simple basic verfication in bittrex to get 3 BTC daily withdrawal limit which is really high compared to what you get in polo as unverified member. So use bittrex to buy altcoins with your bitcoin.
Coinbase can be better solution for you to buy bitcoin at market price because in localbitcoins you might have to pay over 10% market price.

Avoid Coinbase and put it in your trash list. You can simply go t cryptopia, bittrex and kraken. The only verification needed in Bittrex is t enable 2FA, in kraken you need need to write your first name and last name, and in cryptopia nothing to give, up to 5000$ if I am not wrong

Best way is to contact local traders. They would trade for bank deposits or hand on cash as well. Try localbitcoins to see your nearby traders and the payment ways they offer.
