I cant see that the world need more then one crypto currency. Im pretty sure if bitcoins prices drops, all the other crypto currencies drops too.

I hear Litecoin is faster, so it will beat Bitcoin when you are at a cafeteria buying coffee, in cases where you may have queues if you accept Bitcoins. Although, bitcoin is quite ok too, I have been buying burgers at a local shop with bitcoins once in a while and it seems to work as fast as my debit card. But still... |

I don't see any other currency 'beating' Bitcoin unless something goes seriously wrong with Bitcoin. The guys on Let's Talk Bitcoin covered the possibility of a large business or corporation forking Bitcoin and outpromoting Bitcoin with their new currency. I actually think this could be a threat, though it isn't that likely to succeed. either btc or one that has not been invented yet. certainly not one of the copy coins. though a copy-coin may play a complementary role to bitcoin.

Yacoin, soon it will be nearly impossible to mine btc, ltc. for the average joe, and more average joes are coming on to cryptocrrencies everyday. I think Yacoin may be a hit and later becomethe predecessor for a more secure and truely ASIC and GPU proof coin.

In my opinion only Bitcoin will be widely know and accepted by merchants. The other alt coins are just crap - they lack development and/or hash amount to make them secure.
