Hi   I recently purchase a Sapphire 7970, the one with the 925mhz core clock (21197-00)

I have browsed these forums, and Googled for overclocking advice, as I seem unable to get more than 560khash out of it.

Am using cgminer with and without GuiMiner Scrypt.

Settings are - 8192 threads   1 vector    Gpu threads 2    w 256    intensity 13

Then using Sapphire Trixx -   GPU clock 1085     Memory clock 1500     VDDC 1200     Board Power li 20     = 560khz

These seem to be the only settings my PC can handle, if I try to increase the clocks further, the PC freezes.

I have a good Corsair 850w psu, 8gb of ram and an i7 2600k cpu

Gpu temps are managed by Trixx, and they are fine.  Cpu temps are good also.

Not sure if it is worth persisting, or just settle for the 560?

Advice appreciated

Hi   Ok I tried those settings, but got around the same results approx 560 - 565khz these numbers worked the same as my settings and were stable, but no improvement  Sad

Seems that score is my limit

Nevermind thanks for helping!

On my 7970 with 1050/1500 clocks i get 730khs+ mining litecoins using this config:

(Note: I left in my mining pool info)

cgminer.exe--scrypt -o stratum+tcp://www.netcodepool.org:3333 -u xxx -p xxx --no-submit-stale --gpu-fan 85 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192 --intensity 13 --worksize 256 -g 2

85 is high for fan speeds (and noisy). I like to keep mine at 65 or less.

Use this thread for setting up your GPU.

Everyone GPU/Configuration is different, so copying and pasting someone else settings is pointless.

OP,
Core clock to memory clock ratios are a huge deal if you've dialed in the correct config.

Try the config i posted a couple lines up, keep your memory @ 1500mhz (nominal) and mess around with your core in the 1040-1060 range.

Right having spent too many hours trying to improve on that score, I concede defeat.  I have tried the settings you guys posted, and read the links too -and loads more.

This card just doesn't want to go over 565khash it seems.

Cheers anyway!
