This is indeed a very supportive situation. We have seen that over the past few days there has been an incredible rise in bitcoin prices. If you say that will soon reach 5000 $ then this is a dream that will come true. Bitcoin prices move very positive and do not stop increasing. In some exchange we can see that an increase in trading volume is a significant thing to see.

Reaching $5000 is nothing more than a formality it seems. I am quite sure that (short term speaking) it will be a fantastic moment to cash out slightly below or over the $5000 level. If a correction of 20% is to kick in, you'll be making like $1000 in a matter of 24-48 hours per Bitcoin. That's what I consider to be a more than decent profit from an event (the correction) that is pretty much destined to happen. People must realize that nothing in the world goes only up in value without a correction here and there. At some point investors will start cashing out a certain part of their massive profits, because don't forget that as long as one isn't selling, one hasn't made any sort of profits. In the same way people aren't losing if they aren't selling.

Well, i don't see any reason why I should contradict, i mean, the way bitcoin is right now, any man can see that it really can reach $5000 in time. And i asure much much more and if this kind of trend continues, i really think that somewhere on late 2018 we can expect to reach 20,00+. That is if bitcoin doesn't get bullied and killed by goverments and banks that join together to destroy btc and all other crypto currencies. I just hope that doesn't happen any time soon.

i agree 5000usd bitcoin value is very possible i think before the end of year that value can reach of bitcoin or more than that amount maybe upto 6000usd in the last day of 2017, the bitcoin keep increasing the price value until now the movement of bitcoin goes up, the bitcoin so far so good very strong in the cryptocurrency world is not far away so close to reach 5000usd.

I'll be holding/keeping. i've decided not to sell my coins(unless i'm need of urgent money) for another 5-10 years, even then i'll only be selling 60% of my holdings.

why talking about $5000 when you can reach $10.000,$20.000 or even more than that ?
just keep holding your Bitcoin and you will get what you deserve,
but remember,when that time comes aka downward movement do not sell your Bitcoin,
because no matter what happen Bitcoin price will always recovering and always hit another ATH in the next year.
you will only lose it if you sell it,

there'll be a time when we can see a huge downward movement in this huge upward movement,

One step at a time... the human brain works like that. You have to break all these nice, round numbers. $5000 is the next psychological barrier, then it's all the way up to $10000. Seriously, it will be exponential FOMO craze, once $5000 is broken, specially once $7500 is broken, the snowball effect kicks in and a lot of people will experience what exponential growth means in motion. The human brain is just not ready to think in exponential terms, it can only think linearly, which is why a lot of people perceived $100 as insanely high back then.

Nope, 5000$ is right in front of the door and just two weeks ago who would say that we will be just a few hundred dollars away form it. But this could be achieved in couple of days or could take a few months but still I'm convinced we will brake 5000$ limit this year for sure and after that there are no limits.

I want to think that I would not rather get involved into trading alts because there are serious dumps along the way.

Has been so since July 24, when everyone saw the opportunity to win the lottery (BCH) all sold their alts and run to buy BTC and wait on August 1 and then BTC had a large increase and worsened the situation of the alts .

A few weeks ago I never thought it would never reach this high this early. But bitcoin proved me wrong again. But I still believe it is not yet time to reach 5K. It fall back to 4200 level again after reaching 4400. It is still testing the current resistance level.

It will be very interesting to observe the price action of BTC as it gets to the important psychological mark of $5,000. Will it blow through that important milestone on the first try? Or will it take several days/weeks/months for that barrier to be broken?

Actually if the current trend will continue, reaching $5000 seems not to be the target now but way higher than that.

Bitcoin price tremendously showed us some hyper and craze pump to the price we can't imagined right now. In the past, majority thinks that breaching even at $3,000 level quiet have low chance to happen but now that said price range level can considered as cheap price. We can expect more surprises following this rise. If ever there will be a price crash, we can still see bitcoin price on considered high price during it's correction. So now enjoy the wave and make sure we are accumulating bitcoins continously.

When I started bitcoin the price was only $2800 and after 2 months it became $4400 really amazing I wish I was able to buy coins during that time. Well better late than never, I am seeing $5000 in few more weeks and I think it will continue to rise this year. I'll be waiting for the price to go lower and then I will buy and invest on bitcoin.

But one thing is obvious we do believe that there is an increase rapidly or gradually, slowly or faster what important is, it is pointing upward position. So I conclude most of us or all of us is thinking the positive way and it is good in bitcoin. Keep on be positive.

Because that is the closest goal that we have, there is no point aiming for 10000 dollars when we have not reached 5000 yet, besides 10000 dollars seems to be far away, it is going to take some years to reach that price while reaching 5000 dollars seems that is going to be a matter of weeks or months.

Well i think we are currently in the middle of a correction.

This is going to come in phases. We have hit as low as $4050 i believe, and now it has bounced back up to around $4150. We may see a dump tomorrow that pushes bitcoin's price down to less than $4000 or $3900, even.

Price has increased to drastically in too short of a timeframe. Correction is needed for further pumps, but imo it might just stay around the $3500 level.

$5000 is indeed not far away at all when you look at how fast this has all happened, but idk. $5000 would bring btc close to $100 bil market cap which seems unlikely.

Indeed, i think that $5k is almost a given at this stage.

Segwit has not even happened yet and people aer already so hyped up for it.

I think the upward trend will continue. Right now btc is correcting because of the fact that bitcoin cash has risen so much in value and these two coins seem to still have a pretty strong inverse relationship. When BCC corrects, BTC will gain the lost value since people will be dumping BCC for BTC.

I'd predict that we'd see another ATH when Segwit activation happens. most likely >$5000.
