BIOS Mod for MSI RX 470 8GB OC Hynix

I have just bought some brand spanking new Radion RX 470 8GB Armor(Hynix).

I have never modded before and after a lot of examples/research I've been able to get it stable at 24MH using 85W... From what I read, I should be able to squeeze out a bit more than this maybe? Do I have the best possible mod for this card or can I do better? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Here is what I have so far:

**Sidenotes**: I'd like to get the most MH out for the lowest wattage used. I haven't found any for this.

I used polarisEditor to shift STRAP: 1750 to STRAP: 2000 and 2250

Here are my configs for this Mod. Running at 24MH stable at the moment @ 85Watts(according to GPUZ). Stock was 19MH, without Bios Mod, it's 21 using afterburner 2000 Memory and 1150 Clock

Afterburner
It didn't work till i used driver 16.9.2. I have to plug in the display to the card in order for all the sensor information such has clock and memory. But my clock is 1150 and my memory is 2000.

If anyone has a fix for after burner not working unless I plug in display to the card, that'd be much appreciated as well!

Hopefully we can get some good configurations for this card and everyone can use it.

I will send the rom images for both original and modified(memshift) if anyone wants to take a look.

I just got a couple of these cards the other day, currently on stock rom and the new AMD Beta drivers getting ~20 MH/s. I'll try out your STRAP values when I get home and see what improves.

Goodluck, let me know if you have issues. Hopefully someone can help us get to 27MH under 100W! I've seen a lot for Samsung memory, but none for hynix

Well sad news. I was unable to get it to work.

With modified ROM:
Running the latest Beta drivers, windows was unable to start the card.
Running 16.9.2 - I was only getting ~19.5MH/s

With stock ROM:
Running latest Beta drivers - ~20MH/s
Running 16.9.2 - ~19MH/s

The 8GB Hynix variant (Hynix MJR) does NOT take kindly to copy+paste hacks. It is quite picky about what it likes - even if you know what you're doing.

Also - just because you read 85W out of GPU-Z does NOT mean that's the whole draw of the GPU PCB >.>

If it's not a good idea to copy and paste the strap fields, what would you recommend getting around this? Also, what is a good way to determine the total wattage usage of the GPU?

Did you adjust your clock speed to 1150 and memory to 2000 after the 16.9.2 + biosmod  + atikmdag-patcher.exe, then restart. That's the order I did.

there are 3 types of timings there

#1. core/mem 1167/1980-2070. ETH=28.5-29.4 MH/s.

my card MSI rx470 armor oc 8gb hynix works with only #1a. copy it to strap 1750 and to all after it
core 1166 mem 1900. if i set mem clock higher incorrect shares appears too often and after few minutes card is down
result is 27,2 mh

i want to try one more experiment with timings. if i will get better result - i will share it here
