Hello, I am interested in learning to trade and would like to ask the board for suggestions on a good demo trading site. My hope would be to identify a site were I could learn for a few months and then move into actual capital.
Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

it is very easy to get a demo account, you can go to any trading website and create it, for example go to fxcm.com and create a demo account in there, there're a lot of place that you can open it, but if you're looking for a demo account for cryptocurrency trading then nobody can answer it(perhaps), as far as i know,i never encounter something like that,so if you want to learn how to trade it,use a small amount of your money and use it, try to feel it,in the beginning you will lose it,even all of it.don't be afraid because everybody like that too

If you're looking for bitcoin/altcoin demo accounts, I'm not aware of many. SimpleFX has demo accounts and apparently has MT4 capabilities. They offer bitcoin and litecoin CFDs, along with lots of other real world markets. But to be honest, I was checking out their site a bit, and it seemed a bit janky to me. Maybe it was my browser, but it seemed a bit sloppily put together. I know people who trade on it, though, so YMMV.

i think you should go to the official trading site and give a shot to try trading with a small capital. beacause your searching for a site that never exist. a demo trading site.i never heard that dude. but if you wont believe you can do your own search by google if you do so. but for now i will suggest that find a trading site and start to trade with a small capital. its better to gain experience than to speculate it.

Yes I haven't found any other trading platform that offer demo account except hitbtc. Just try them, there is also another platform simplefx.com that also offers practice account but they are not a true crypto trading platform like hitbtc.

To trade, you need to learn trading strategies, not sites. And it's better to trade where there is a lot of trading.

i see. so at that rank you have, you gained experience about trading. and you suggesting us (those new in terms of traiding) to find a trading site that has a lot of traders? that was a good advice and very thankful for that info. but how about that " you need to learn trading strategies" youve mentioned? can you give us an example to have us an idea what is your pointing about?

I would suggest any site or broker that allows you to trade with the MetaTrader platform, which simplifies most of the charting analysis you need as a learner. If it's just a demo, a lot of forex brokers now offer Bitcoin pairs but my hesitance with most is the AML requirements most have in place. Someone here mentioned SimpleFX and that's also the one I find the most diverse WITH a great anonymous option for Bitcoin.
I have been exploring the option to use MT5 feeding off the charts from exchanges and running your own demos but have not been successful. Anyone tried successfully with say Polo or Bittrex?

I especially liked the way that 1broker handled their BTCUSD market, and I can't wait for them to return with their proposed 1fox service. If they have the same fee structure (i.e. no fees to hedge short BTC), I'll definitely be trading there. There have been times when I've been able to take advantage of the time lag between the CFD broker's (1broker or SimpleFX) API and the exchange indices, getting out at a better exit price than was actually available on the exchanges.

Yes, hitbtc has a demo site for trading cryptocurrencies. You can explore it there. Just a point though, hitbtc got a red trust from bitcointalk I guess way back then. I don't know how they got it. If you want, it is not hard to practice crypto trading even in the real exchange platforms. It is not like in forex where you can easily burn money. In crypto trading, you can simply observe and then jump into it with a small amount just for practice.

Yes, hitbtc is the one that gives complete access on demo trading. Rather than trading on these demo accounts, it's good to invest a small amount as capital and know much about trading, because practical experience makes people understand the market easily.

It's of no use trust me on a demo site you might be making good profits but demo account only helps you understand the interface you can expect to get the same opportunity again when you do on a real account. For now hitbtc.com has a demo account i don't remember if any other exchange has but i would recommend you to right away trade with real account and not a demo

A trading account allows you to manage fake funds in your account, you can use the funds to trade like you’re in a real life situation that’s one good thing about demo trading. I know sites like alpari.com, forex.com, instaforex.com(which presently gives $500 bonus to your main account)
