Completely Agreed.
If someone can give me a valid reason why it's "shady", I'll gladly drop the bid. I must be missing something.

Updating my price : 17 @ 1.92
Also, for the record but, I'd like to see proof that this shady pm bidder makes his payment. If I don't see this proof, I expect I (and the other bidders) to pay according to a sheet drawn up without his bids forcing us to bid higher that he would have had he never bid at all.

yeah a large fake bid could pump up the other bids pretty easily. I don't like it either

I mean, even with proof of btc sent, op can just send the btc back if it is a friend of his.
Not accusing you of anything op just does seem strange, would you agree?

I'm probably just being paranoid. He has to get shares somehow and that is a big order

Alright... that's valid :-/ If I was really set on doing that, I would have created a puppet account long ago though. Ditch the bid then? I feel bad, but I don't want anyone to feel like they're getting scammed. A forum admin could always verify it.

I have no opinion on what you should do, don't know what's common practice or reasonable in these auctions, it's my first one.

I don't understand how the bid could even be accepted... Why would he be able to PM but not post in the forum. I really only see two plausible reasons.
#1. The bidder knows/isn't sure he'll be able to fulfill the bid so this way, it will be much harder for anyone to discredit him if he doesn't pay. #2. Inside bid (no disrespect OP, it just doesn't make sense to me).
